Deflector changing color by altering speed
« on: June 22, 2009, 01:12:48 PM »
Can this be done?

I'm wanting the deflector on my TMP connie to change from brown/golden to blue by altering impulse speeds. This is similar to the engine warm-up script which by warping, the engines "click" on by going to warp, remain on, then "click" off when exiting warp. I'd rather do something like this than the older mvam deflector mod.

Not sure what you mean with "MVAM Deflector", but if it's just a couple of texture changes, then this script would be no different (at all!) than a script that changes impulse engine textures on impulse changes. Unfortunately I don't believe such a script exists yet (search the boards for this one, I could be wrong).

The MVAM Constitution Refit deflector power up/down mod.

It looks like to me that the MVAM Connie mod works if you have 2 seperate ships, one textured with a blue deflector, the other with a gold deflector. I liked the engine warm-up script because it was so easy to use. Is there any way to tell a script to swap a texture when the ship is at 40% impulse speed?

I've had posted a thread about this long ago and IIRC you can but the glows won't switch....
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

So no glows at all?

The glows stay the same, regardless of what you swap.

Good, as long as the color changes, both textures use the same glow.

That's so odd how the glows wouldn't swap. It makes no sense to me... I mean, it's doing the same thing as the Warp Engine warmup script, right?

All that does is swap the texture on the nacelles (or whatever other part of the ship) while at warp, right?

Since the glow information is in the alpha channels of the _glow texture, when you swap it, the glow should go along with it... label me confused. :arms:

For me, I don't care if the glows change. Both of my textures have the exact glow. I just want the texture to change. Is that possible for a texture swap at impulse?
