« on: July 29, 2009, 04:14:09 PM »
Anyone remember that Tron clip that was shown at last years comic-con? Well, here it is in high quality this time(which can be downloaded too).

Lots of concept art here.

And theres a mililion other things here. Johnny D definitly likes to do the odd characters lol. Oh, and ya can't forget about Scarlett Johannson as Black Widow(Iron Man's other baddy hes gotta face). She looks good as a redhead.

I still can't read peoples minds, nor can I read peoples computers, even worse, I can't combine the two to read what is going wrong with your BC install...

Tron is the first ScienceFiction movie I can remember seeing, think I was about 6 or so, it's what got me into the genre in the first place. Not to mention it got me into computers. Thinking of it, it does explain quite a lot. :P

Not to mention the first concept of an MMO that I can think of. Now why did they all turn out like WoW and not something all digital and epic? :arms:

EDIT: Would kill for a high-res background of this:

there's been rumors of the sequal for years.  I guess slipping Tron into Kingdom Hearts II musta sparked interest.
they've replicated the "bend" effect on the reflective strips on the suits, again.  wonder if they've gone Physical Props?
another speculation...will they dig up Boxleitner for Tron himself (and make a B5 joke in the process)
and who copied the MCP?  it's bound to be in there, again.

With what they did in the latest Terminator movie, I imagine they could replicate much of the first movie (Without the cheesy effects. :P) if they wanted.

How do you mean "cheesy"? It was beyond state of the art when it was created! So cutting edge it could cut edges!
I'm not making this up, Tron was the first movie that used CGI. They practically invented it!

The cheesy effects kind of made it realistic. In a, -that's not a cheesy effect that tries to pass as real, but it is cheesy, because it is fake and virtual anyway- kind of way.

If that makes any sense.

they sure didn't seem like cheesy effects in GRADE school, yo.

people keep forgetting to think in terms of the YEAR that those effect were created. always comparing effects of a "then" movie to the all CG festivals of NOW just doesn't work.

Scifi has always been cheesy. It's how it works. Tron just did it better than everyone else.

The movie Moon.

Or anything by Heinlein or Asimov or Arthur C. Clarke. Those are all non-cheesy, but incredible works of SciFi.

I just watched the trailer. I'm quite psyched about this. I wanna see Boxleitner on the big screen again.

Watch it. I just saw it for the first time a few days ago, and it was quite good. I was impressed by the graphics, given the era it was created in.

Worthy thread revival with very relevant materials. Is it too early to start the countdown?  :funny
