A newb with a BSOD problem
« on: November 29, 2009, 11:07:34 AM »
Hi, i just tried to install the Century Class Enterprise F mod and for some reason the game won't load up. I've been trying to find whatever fixes it, but i can't seem to find it. I installed nanofx 2 and its fix and the game worked fine, but when i put the ship in it didn't work. any ideas on how to fix it?

All i get it a black screen and the cursor when i start the game

youll need a console report that shows what has gone wrong...
there is a stickied thread in this forum that describes how to go about obtaining one...
also, which Nanofx 2 "fix" was it you installed?  can you link to it?  it doesnt contain anything "GFT" in the title does it?

Most likely missing bcdebug.py

whats bcdebug.py? and where would i look to see if i got it? and in case i don't where do i find it?

Also, i tried to do the console, but i can't seem to figure out how to get it to work. I can't get testmode to activate in any of the ways the guy in that thread talked about. I tried the shortcut one a lot, but maybe i screwed up. maybe someone could give me a better step-by-step for that path. I use Vista if that has anything to do with it

the nanofx i have in is nanofx2.0_beta and then the fixes is titled

all of my mods i have downloaded came from the BC filefront sight.

ok, i got the BSOD problem fixed i believe. are we not able to use mods and new ships in the story part of the game? and do they need to be turned off in order to play the story?

btw, i have a testmode now. isn't the ~ key supposed to turn on the console? because i haven't been able to get the console to work. i used BCUT to make a testmode shortcut, and the same program added the bcdebug.py to the game.

i'm also having a problem where the game crashes in the middle of the missions.

modded BCs are not friendly to the SP campaign.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

Depends on the Keybord Layout. Eg. on German Layout it is the ^ Key (I think it is alway the Position below Escape)
