Galaxy Chart Crashes, making sure it's just me.
« on: February 20, 2010, 08:53:46 AM »
now that I've upgraded to KM (although the 1.0, rather than the current Beta), I've thrown on Galaxy charts as well.  however...

i can't get more than a few battles in before it either Bluescreens, or outright conks to the desktop with no notice whatsoever.  I've been saving the logs (i keep every mod and ship I download in case of catastrophic failure), and every time it conks, it appears to be a random reason why.  I'm assuming that my comp simply can't handle Galaxy Charts.  everything else, including KM, works just fine.  let me know which report would be needed.

I don't see how it could be old age, unless the company that put my tower together used a used card to begin with.  i should get an application that monitors temperatures.  thanks for the hint.

Edit: the latest console report.  I think things are being fussy?

Try CPU-Z. It allows you to monitor the temps and such of your comp.

Bluescreen suggests a hardware fault. Probably your graphics card overheating. Same thing happened to me when my old graphics card (GeForce 8800GT) was nearing the end of its life.

You think that's old? I have an 8600GS. :'(

8800GT cards are not old... yes I know they have newer models out now but the 8800 is uses as a standard card in spec sheets for games these days.

Jimmy: i'm thinking it might just be me cause of the graphics card on this thing, which allready has a crash history, but thanks, I'll have a look.

if it is overheating I'd bump the cards fan speed up... my card was at 30% for a while till I bumped it up to 70%
