holy crap!!!! Constellation (the other Connie LOL) and Excelsior model look awesome....can't wait to see more...and whats up with the Challenger?? i only see the Connie lol and Excelsior..keep up the great work Prime!!! you're doing two gallant ladies justice indeed. Ive been waiting for a cannon looking Constellation class for so long man...and cannon meaning the single turbo lift on the bridge dome..

Thank you! The Danube model has been teaching me a lot, I really think it's helped push me a little further in the right direction, now all I need to do is catch up to the others.  :funny But I don't know if I can run that fast, I'd have to have a cigarette break or three!

The Challenger model wasn't included in the render because it's just a small kitbash (And I'm having trouble settling on a refit Enterprise style deflector or something a little different). Otherwise, she's only a little behind the Constellation in terms of being complete. The Constellation model is only missing a little detail on the impulse engines and the two huge sensor pods.

Some nice clean models you have there. And toy TMP nacelles look good.

Thanks Baz, though I dunno if I'll ever be content with the nacelles.  :funny But I figure if I can finish it off, there's nothing stopping me from a v2.

Bones mate, I might be taking you up on that offer for help sometime soon. :P

Tiny update before I go to bed. Realised the schematics I was going off of weren't accurate to the studio model. Errors have been rectified, bridge module is temporary.

Currently in process of cleaning up errors after unifying the mesh. Bridge Model will get slapped on right after that.

Felt a little inspired, sort of, so I threw together a quick Excelsior model for the heck of it (everyone should go for it at some point imo  :funny)

I can certainly vouch for that! Looking good! :)

Looks smooth, I take it the elements of the ship in a different colour are still (at this stage) separate objects?

Still, a nice looking ship, and well pieced together.

The Excelsior Class is just one of those ships that looks good all the time.  Whether she's next to a Constitution Class or a Galaxy Class she just looks like she belongs.  But you know what would be really neat?  A refit-Excelsior to go along with the original.  Just an idea, not a request.  Keep up the good work  :)

Nah, Lightwave groups retain colours after boolean. Just didn't repaint them because... I dunno.  :funny Currently it's about as done as the Constellation, so I'm going to drop the bridge onto it and make sure the Constellation gets a little more attention to the fronts of the nacelles.

As she currently stands, 15k. I'm thinking of avoiding modelling the grille style detail on the neck and nacelles, as BC doesn't seem to like lighting detailed stuff too well. Constellation is at 13k.

Dunno that yet I'm very tempted to take a shot at texturing the Constellation on my own as well as releasing the mesh for anyone who wants to toy with it for BC. Given that it'd be my first try at proper texturing, the work won't be too spiffy, but if I can fit it all on a x1024 map then I'll be happy.

Do not do that..

The whole ship should sit on a 2048 x 2048 as a minimum...  most people use a 1024 sheet for the saucer alone..  quality mate, think quality

He didn't. He did it on one 2048 sheet and mapped in 2 places if there was a weapon/sensor pod.

Well, I finally had some time to sit down and play with Lightwave today, so I thought I'd get back onto the Challenger. The hull as seen in the comic didn't look right to me in 3d, so I went with a Connie hull (Which seems to be the only other version of the class I could find on the internet. :idk:) I personally prefer this version, though I couldn't honestly tell you why. I'm sticking with the Constellation hull though because there are enough Connie kitbashes, I think.
