ST5 shuttle with crew test
« on: April 24, 2010, 09:03:54 PM »
Just messing about on bridge hiatus and wondered whether could adapt Blackrook's excellent work on T11 shuttles-with-visible crew to other shuttles.  This is first attempt at STV shuttle. Never modded ship before so mapping has got a bit screwed up  :)   But main problem is can't get closer zoom than in these pics. I thinks it's the LOD problem, where ship 'disappears' if gets too close to camera.  Anyone know a fix?    More a bridge modder but guess this kind of hybrid...

Not a bad start.  But the ships disappearing when at a certain distance from the camera has been the biggest obstacle to shuttle and fighter modeling because why play a game when you can barely see your ship?

So...had to make a 'bigger' shuttle to get these pics (not sure of diff in scale, but prob about 10x bigger)

EDIT: smoothing/mapping fixed

You don't appear to have any smoothing at all.

a change in Scale will desrupt, all the Carrier files , and shuttle bays, that already use the pataciular shuttle.

It was only to take the pics tiq :P

As for increasing the scale... you can do it ingame if the ships are small and you want a decent screenshot of it.

Just make sure your in test mode and type in

import MissionLib

MissionLib.GetPlayer().SetScale(*)

where the asterisk is, just type in the appropriate number.

Quite so, JB  :)   And thanks for the tip.  Will try...

Mind you, not sure how much interest/demand would be, lol  :funny

the crew seem a bit small to me, remember, it's the same set as the type 6 shuttle, it needs to be a little more cramped in there.

You're absolutely right  :)  Went back to ST5 (film) and checked. Rescaled figures to size (if standing will be almost ceiling height).  But to make more canon need to move them back a bit (they're closer to side doors than front of shuttle in film).
