Game dumps and no error error messages.
« on: June 02, 2010, 10:25:37 PM »
I have been playing this game awhile.  For some reason even though I follow the instructions on modding and installing ships and mods, the Kobayashi Maru (up to date) just keeps dumping.  I have windows 7 installed and a quad core system with 4 gig ram and still it dumps.  Can anyone assist?  I would like to play for more than 20 min before the thing dumps.

We'll lets see...

1) You gotta give us a console report so that we can help you. http://bc-central.net/forums/index.php/topic,57.0.html

2) Whats your install order? Like this? BC; 1.1 patch; KM 2k9(or maybe installed this over 1.0...did you?); KM 2k10; other ships/mods (are they KM compatible/with each other?) List everything you can in order please.

Not everything plays nice with certain things so you gotta be careful and always, always, always test EVERYTHING extensively after you install it.(before anything else)

You've read all the readmes everything(comments on bcfiles and here and such) right?

Did you use anything other than BCUT to install the ships and whatnot? BCMI and BCMP can actually cause things to go wrong and BCUT prevents and even corrects thoose mistakes.

Remember we can't help you 'til you help us lol.
All hail the messiah!

also, KM 1.0 is extremely fussy.  it does not like having anything but Galaxy Charts installed over it at all.  even ships can cause KM to CTD (crash to desktop)  I'm STILL getting this.

Err, what exactly do you mean when you say "the game dumps" ? A crash?

actually, thats not true at all...
many things can be installed over KM (which already contains Galaxy Charts; the newest version of KM has the newest version of GC, so there should be no reason to install GC over KM in any event)...  thats not the problem with crashes you may be experiencing...
DS9FX Extended, for example, is one of many things can be perfectly fine installed over KM...

i have the 1.0, rather than the current version (and 1.0 still took forever for me to download), so I'm assuming the 1.0 is being a fussbag :P  I know I've had bits suddenly be disabled if I add something like Diamond BC for the older mods I have.  and the trouble this guy is having sounds a lot like what happens when I tack on anything.

hmmm if im not mistaken the newer 2 builds of KM are alot more stable...
anyway, perhaps we should hold off on further posting and wait until the thread author posts in this thread to give more detail and info he is having...
