Oberth Question

why do cruse ships have double hulls that can be accessed... those decks might not be wide but they should be able to be accessed to repair equipment.

Well, okay.  Let's say they have some stairs to get down there.  How do they make that transition from 45 degrees to vertical again once they reach the lower hull?

Oh, wait.  I get it.  Standing in the 1.5 m tube leading down the pylon, you are surrounded by holodeck plates (or coating, or whatever) so it looks like you're on a golf course, right?

LOL ok look jefferies tubes with ladders and maybe 1 turbo lift would/could give you access to each engineering/plasma tube access deck in the pylons.

Still, I think the Oberth is a fairly nifty design, but done in such an odd fashion . . . could have used a neck between the two, or something like that.
