I like it a lot. Clean design and a logical progression IMO.

Good work.

If I may?  Perhaps modify the saucer design so that it doesn't have that dip in the dorsal where the phaser array would normally go.  That's the only thing I didn't like about the Sovereign Class.  I felt it restricted the phaser coverage.

I've thought and am thinking about it.  I don't really want to mess with the dorsal a whole lot, as that's probably the most recognizable part of the ship, besides the overall profile of course.  At the moment I can only see four possibilities:  Move the phaser strip either up to the curved part, down to the widest part, change that part of the saucer, or leave it.  I'll need more opinions before I move on with that of course.

As for making the model - I've looked at 5 different versions of the Sovereign, and most of them are really complex, non-unified meshes.  Not the easiest thing to add upon.  So most likely, I'll be building a new mesh entirely.

Moving the phaser array is also a good option.

Well, I've graduated from high school! :drink2:

With that in mind, I'm kicking off my summer of productivity with this concept for a Voyager class starship, based off the aesthetic of the Vesta class!  Work in progress.

It looks like a slimmed-down Excalibur class. I think you can cut a faint bridge module within the saucer's smooth hull, and add a few indented windows, and "spine ribbing" similar to Voyager. I like the nacelles. I like where this is going.

I would shrink it down a little, to roughly the same size as the intrepid

Voyager class mission profile:

Following the USS Voyager's return from the Delta Quadrant and the success of the Vesta class line of vessels, Starfleet specially commissioned the creation of an offshoot line of vessels from the Vesta class design project, resulting in the quantum slipstream capable, deep space Voyager class.  The first in her line, the USS Voyager A was tasked to lead a Federation task force of two other Vesta class starships to return to the Delta Quadrant to reestablish contact with local civilizations, to analyze the Borg threat, and to lay a network of subspace buoys for continued communications.

With a crew of 1000, Voyager class starships can last on extended missions in excess of ten years, and thanks to its quantum slipstream capabilities, returning to a Federation base is of no major issue in the long term.  Equipped with multi-dimensional shielding and ablative armor modeled after the type recovered by the original Voyager, in addition to quantum pulse weapons with yields equivalent to the Borg's latest armament.

Wow...this is the closest I've seen a ship come to my Endor-class design without actually being it.

I like the top 1 best. To me, It just feels right for a Delta-Quadrant ship.

The top one is the Vesta class, which was released already.

Some more work on the Voyager class.

I'm happy with the size as is.  Works with the window style I think.

First off, congrats on your HS graduation!

I like your concept, it's definitely unusual, but cool nonetheless.

Keep it up!

i can't say that it's too unusual.  As I said, it looks very much like a starship design of mine, though admittedly more advanced since my design was based on the Sovereign and his is based on the Vesta.

Not a bad looking concept. Frankly, the thing I liked most about Voyager, was the ship. It's really quite a beautiful looking ship. Got goosebumps the first time I saw the Voyager intro, with the ship flying through the nebula, and over the planet rings.

Did a quick mockup of the top-view using Voyager-style pylons. Gives a little idea of what it -could- look like :)

I think the engines need to be farther out than that, but still in the same style . . .
