« on: July 21, 2010, 10:40:26 PM »
Hi, guys , just a quick questions... I just notice that many of the mods have the icon in the tactical displays have a black box in the background.... it's seem the background suppose to be transparent, but it's not :lostit: .
How to fix this anyway...?
Thank you....

in these mods the author forgot to add an Alpha channel to the icon texture, this is what makes the background transparent.  you will need to make a new alpha channel for these icons.  there should be instructions on doing this in your photo-editing software's help file.

The alpha channel should be white and black (no gray).  The white should be the outline of the ship, and the black should be what you want transparent.  Save this as a targa file, 32-bit with 8-bit alpha.  I had to invert the image in mine to get it to show up correctly in BC.

And UNCOMPRESSED , tga, BC does not like compressed tgas for its icons

fiuh...   ACES_HIGH  ,Locke, tiqhud, thank you very much... it's work... now I'll start repair my fleet icon... :dance

Well...the summary is... I using Adobe Photoshop to make an icon. Ship in the first layer & black screen in the background layer. I use selection tool to mark the ship while making a new alpha channel. And.... save as an uncompressed TGA file. The last thing is that they'r a setting below the "save as" window. I should choose "save as a copy" instead of "layers" to make it work. nah... tada!.... my ship working properly now.

Umm... one other thing is if u make it with Adobe Photoshop, make sure there's no other alpha channel (nor active or inactive). In my cas , it won't work.....

Thanks guys....!  ;)
