I like the clay render of the model okay, a lot better than the drawing.  To me what this really lacks is some explanation of this design.  After the Sov, Prometheus, Intrepid, etc. it's clear that Starfleet has ditched the interhull concept connecting drive to saucer section.  Why have it on this ship?  More importantly, how could having it split like that provide any benefit?

I've had a far easier time thinking around it when I stopped comparing the double-neck to the Oberth and realized that as presented, it actually showed a much stronger design lineage with the Akira-class' catamaran hull. That was just as much a new direction as the no-neck Nova and Intrepid.

The Akira started being around pretty much at the same time we first saw the Sovereign-class. I don't see it as too farfetched to grab some design cues from it. I understand wanting some good explanation too... but really, the Akira and Steamrunner catamaran-like hull didn't draw much flak.  I don't recall people dwelling too much on the why of their hull layouts so much as just appreciating the look of it.

I doubt the roll glitch would work here (I thought they fixed it months ago anyway) there's an overhang on the second story of all those buildings.

I'm going to go with the whole multiple universe thing.  I'd really take either of them any day of the week.

ill give you that point.

IMHO, every 1701 has been a step forward from the predecessor, this looks like it belongs next to a sovvy and not as a step up from it, i can glance this over and see EVERY element from all the predecessors, wich dosn't quite sit right to me to have the 1701 title, with the Century, it was a step forward in the sleeker design lineage, as in more streamlined towared the inevitable "J". with this to me this looks like a sovvy with a neck and a flat back. the aft tips of the nacelles scream "A", with galaxy and sovvy thrown in... and the saucer design looks VERY familiar to me (though i cant put my finger on it) like i said its a good overall design. (end of pointless rant)

buuuut given the "alternate universe" thing and getting drunk enough, i could possibly accept it.... if i played STO.

you realize this will probably be the official design CBS asks Novel writers to use now,
So if you're a novel reader you'll probably be seeing this once the Ent-E gets destroyed/retired/lost in the Novel-verse.

The Ent-F's shuttle bay reminds me of the Luna class.

So does the whole "OMG Suxxorz" idea some people are taking.  They should just stop letting fans design these ships I guess lol

Actually, the way I see it, the Century shares more similarities with the Sovereign than this.

1.  Both Sovereign and Century have elliptical saucers, Odyssey's is more like DJ's Eclipse in shape.
2.  Century and Sovereign have angled up and straight (viewed from fore or aft) pylons, while Odyssey's curve up.
3.  Century's shuttle bay doors closely match Sovereign's impulse engines in size, position, and shape.
4.  Both the Sovereign and Century have no neck, whereas the Odyssey has two.
5.  Century's secondary hull is roughly the same shape as Sovereign's, but a bit broader, while Odyssey has, as mentioned before, curves reminiscent of the Luna.

I can live with this Enterprise. There have been many Enterprise-lineage ships for years, this is just another interpretation. Until we see it in the Ships of the Line calendar, it is still just a game ship.

Well this contest was hosted by CBS, and the final design seen there had to go through CBS for approval (actually almost everything Cryptic does in STO has to go through CBS's Trek department for approval).
I wouldn't be surprised if it became 'official'

They're trying to get the Vesta Class in game (Ezri's Ship in the Novel-verse) the designer has said he'd like it in the game, but apparently its in Legal-Limbo with CBS.

I actually really like this new Enterprise. DJ's IMO is a bit better but this one is pretty darn nice too.

Only thing I don't like is how the registry number is written, its stretched in a arch instead of evenly spaced.
