Talk about an epic failure. Practically every image is previously published, and almost certainly are NOT original work by the submitter. Of the ones that are the submitters own work, they're usually awful kitbashes or absolute design disasters. There are maybe 3 decent designs on the whole gallery.
I guess nobody here has read the contest rules properly? Not only does the designer have to be in the US (and if they submitted it on somebody else's behalf they would need to keep that secret forever), but the design cannot have been "previously published". Which means very likely NONE of the current designs from BC are acceptable.
I believe that it's unfair not to accept a design simply because it's already been published or because the designer doesn't live in the US. The competition to set the standard for the next Enterprise should be given to the BEST design, no matter the nationality of its creator or the history of its publication.
The best design has already been published, and it is not fair for it to be arbitrarily ineligible for its rightful place. The best design for the NCC-1701-F is of course DJ Curtis' Century class USS Enterprise. For me, it will still be THE Enterprise-F.
Regardless of whatever wins the STO competition, everyone here will know which design
deserved to win.
0-o apparently my link didn't copy correctly, thats not the ship I meant.
Edit: Oh they were both uploaded by the same person
http://www.startrekonline.com/enterprise/sites/default/files/imagecache/lightbox/Starfleet_USS__TYCHO_W_I_P_by_ghshaw.jpg
thats the one I meant to link.
That fact that that picture proclaims itself as being the "USS Tycho" is a pretty dead giveaway that it wasn't made for the competition. This "Benjamin" dude is an obvious art thief...
