people can post what they want lol it's just at the very end when they select the winner they have to prove it's theirs and it fits lol.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

I'm inclined to agree, though in the case of DJ's, it'd be better if he had actually submitted himself or authorized someone to do likewise. He didn't, so...

I like the look of the Arrogant as well - the warp-capable saucer, the bridge escape pod, so on...

I kind of like this one:

Welcome for the BCC forums! That version looks a bit closer to the Ent-J, but the top view is good.

Don't forget to vote for mine- there are still a lot of stolen designs in the Top 25-- vote for one that is original. :D

Yeah, and while you're at it, there's mine as well. :P

Don't forget, there are four main winners!  All of them (hopefully us ;)) get lifetime subscriptions.

Thank you. First time post, but I've been lurking for awhile. I do like the BCC community and star trek ships, but I don't really model Star Trek/BC stuff so I've seldom found a reason to post. Decided to break the ice just today.

I actually have voted to you both already. I'm glad you actually spoke up about which design was yours, WileyCoyote, because I was wondering about that. Both of your submissions actually thread over very similar themes and design aesthetics and considering the design styles which appear to have prevalence over the BCC community I can kind of relate to your preferences.

Both are ships I certainly could live with myself (rather than start tearing at my hair in frustration) if they won the contest. I definitely hope they'll end up in the upper 25 winners.

I'll offer criticism; I hope you won't mind:
Farshot's Independence-class has a certain broadness and 'brutishness' on the top view that seems to evoke the mechanical/warship traits in my mind - some of it feels unappealing to me, because I'd rather it be smoother like Wiley's, but it fits with the plated style seen in STO (Cochrane, Quasar, Noble classes). I kind of like the way the bottom of the engineering hull fits into the shuttle - it's smooth and yet not so minimalistic as the Star Cruiser configuration. I like the presence of the navigational deflector and feel the quantum torpedo turret's position is stronger than the one on Wiley's. I also approve of the double shuttlebays, but I feel the dorsal side of the secondary hull has this almost hunchbacked quality to it which is less appealing (I think the same thing of the Vesta-class, and it doesn't stop me from liking the Vesta too). I don't like it's implied massive size because it's not my personal preference.

Wiley's own creation appeals to me due to its more fluid and organic lines (and it goes well with the style shared with the Aurora and Discovery classes). Looking at it, I'm also strongly reminded of DJ Curtis' Enterprise-G (Farshot's is a bit more like Curtis' Ent-F). Two shuttlebays are present, the torpedo turret has a bit less presence than I'd like. The engineering hull actually hasn't entirely flattened as much as Farshot's and Curtis' Ent-F... which I approve of because it makes the ship's bottom look more slender and elegant. I approve of the two shuttlebays, but wish there had been a secondary navigational deflector. I could definitely see it fly alongside the Vesta-class and look timeline accurate.

The thing I bemoan from both designs is that despite their many appealing aesthetics, they feel a little too safe. I was kind of hoping to see a more flagrant design difference (Ent-A vs. Ent-D? not sure, I might just be fickle here). They also both seem to prioritize design aesthetics beyond the Enterprise-E, but less on making the Enterprise-F the Enterprise for Star Trek Online (taking account of modularity, dual beam and cannon placements, hardpoints, impulse trails, etc...)

Thanks for the review, Zoberraz, and feel free to post more often, comments and criticisms are welcome by all here. ;)

I actually agree with many of your comments, and would change my design to incorporate some of what you said - I put this ship up only a couple days into the contest, without access to my laptop where I could have graphically designed it as Wiley had his.  As such, I drew a sketch, scanned it, and wrote annotations with Paint.  The size was exaggerated, as in that sketch it is twice the length of the Sovereign - it is intended to be about the same size as the Tier 5 star cruisers, which aren't much bigger than the Tier 5 assault cruisers, only a difference of 250 crew, perhaps making it only about 1.25 times the length of the Enterprise E.  Deck-wise, they are about the same, with the Ent E being around 25, and my Ent F design being about 30.

I'm pretty pissed about the contest.  I was in the highest rated tab since the third day of the contest.  Then on the last day, the submissions were spammed by last minute 5 stars.  So quite a bit of those in the highest rated tab have few votes but high ratings!  Grr, those cheap guys usurped my spot! :bitch:

i'm going over these entries, and there's some real beauties in here.  the first one that caught my attention had me say "this should be the enterprise H" (rather than the G)
http://www.startrekonline.com/enterprise//enterprise/sites/default/files/imagecache/lightbox/shawn_weixelman_1701f.jpg

if it comes up wrong, it's the one submitted that looks like a Ralph MacQuarrie (sp) painting.

I agree, that one IS good (First entry under 'Highest Rated')

Just a question, why is the thread called:

"Star Trek Online - Design The Next Enterprise...  in Canon"

When it most certainly is NOT canon? Just a question...
Did you know I'm on Twitter?

Just because its endorsed by CBS doesn't make it Canon. The Luna class isn't Canon, is it? That was endorsed by CBS.

No one officially has defined canon, actually.  It is generally accepted that only live-action and movies are canon, but that is only really fan consensus.

Yeahm Star Trek has gone by the "On Screen = Canon" while Star Wars is "Anything approved by LucasFilm or any of those 'Lucas' companies = Canon"
