creating saucer aztec textures
« on: November 28, 2010, 08:10:56 AM »
for quite a while, I've been working on a Proper reskin for the Galaxy that's going into my catch pack.  however, despite having some samples I like, they do NOT look right.   I need to know you guys' technique for getting an aztec into an arrayed mode for use on saucer sections.

note that I am STILL using paintshop.  i have no access to extra money for Photoshop, and some of the PS tricks don't work on PSP.

Me: mine [my bridges] would probably be simple to get the characters to use.  the only person that sits is the captian.
Baz: space is vast there[sic] legs will be tired by the time they get to the next planet

I think from PSP 9 has the following effect :-Effects > Distortion effects > Polar Coordinates

This should turn a flat image into a circle as the 2 attached pics.

So layout your pattern in a row then use the polar effect. you may need to resize as they can look like a rugby ball shape to start with.

unfortunately, 7 is missing this.  if I still had my PP8, it would work, no problem.

probably maps them to a cylinder and then shrinks the top circle down to a point and renders the top view in flat ambient light. Or not. But that is one way you could do the above method without needing the polar coordinates thingy.
