I've fixed the one-quarter spheres on the aft nacelle tips; expect to see screenshots of the mesh later today, along with perhaps some texturing.  I've also modelled a couple of RCS thrusters (I need 4 more, which will not be a problem since they're just submerged boxes).  The big deal will be the insane amount of time that it will take to draw all of the little "Z", "T", "L", and "l" shapes that make up the hull plating on newer Federations ships.

I'm sure you all will like the end results; the ship will be cut up to use the Skinning & Damaging Tool and hopefully I can keep the registry sizes down at 1024x1024 (I've been fearing that I may have to use 2048x1024 registries for better detail).  I've obtained the names of all Luna-class ships from the Star Trek books (the ones that I plan on using anyway, since some of them conflict with ships that I know of, like the Luna-class USS Europa) and will be including registries for them.  However, I'm at a loss for the registry numbers of the ships other than the USS Titan, which is NCC-80102 - could some one provide me with regisry numbers for other Luna-class ships in the books (if they're given in the books, none of which I've ever read)? :D

With the RCS thrusters, the new nacelle tail grilles, and the new phaser strips on the nacelle pylons, this model is done; the model now has 13500 polygons.

I found names in the back of the first book. No reg numbers, but I think there's one ot two reg numbers mentioned in the books, I'm not about to re-read them. If you want the 10 other names, I can give them to you, but it seems you'll have to make up numbers.

I think for now you will have to make the regs up, i would keep the Luna's reg close to the Titans one maybe NX-80100 or NX-80002

Look's good CR, can't wait to see what the textures will look like. 13500 polys, I can think thats acceptable for a complex looking model like this, what size textures are you planning on using!?   :D

Really big textures - a 2048x2048 on each side of the saucer, and a 2048x2048 for everything else except bussards, impulse engines, grilles, and the registry, which will have its own 1024x1024.

Here are some shots of the ship that show all of the glowy stuff that I just made (these are the easiest textures to make since you can use patterns and the blurring/hue/saturation/highlight/midtone tools a lot after drawing only basic jagged images).

Nice one i was  wondering when you do the textures to the torpedo launchers are you going to make the inside of them black and not that red glow that some people do, i hate the red glow on the newer ships.

Awesome. I'm starting to like the actual ship design now. (Always liked the model quality just not the actual design). I'll definatley be gettin this on release.

Looking great Russell.  I can't wait for the rest.  How many textures do you plan on making for this one though?  Just out of curiosity.  I'd tell you why I'm asking, but I'd probably get an "I know that already, but thank you" LOL

The glow textures are separate so that they won't look wierd when speculars activate (when an engine glow is part of a hull plating texture and a specular is made for that texture, the engine glow will not look right when speculars activate) - the impulse engines are a 512x256x32, the deflector is a 256x256x32, the grilles are a 512x128x32, and the bussards are a 256x256x32.

Since the top of the saucer flows into the stardrive so well, I'm putting that onto a single large texture map, probably a 4096x2048 as it stands right now (there's a bunch of other stuff on this map too - whatever I can squash into it).  The bottom of the saucer will be a 2048x2048, and there will be another texture (either a 2048x1024 or 2048x2048) that will include everything else.  I may release a "High" version that has textures that are 25% normal area, and leave the really big ones as an "Ultra" version - I was looking on BC Files and saw that the CG Sovereign ultra textures included a 4096x2048 version of "hull_glow.tga" so I think that I could get away with this as well.  Oh yeah, and the registries will be either 1024x1024 or 2048x1024.

Nice job on the modeling CR, it's really great to see you building stuff from scratch, you've got lots of talent.  the mesh looks very clean, and knowing you the textures will be top notch.

But God that ship is ugly.  :D
