Legacy Class not loading
« on: January 01, 2011, 09:57:24 PM »
I love the way this ship looks, and cant wait to use it, but when I go to load it you just sit on the bridge and the ship wont load.
I have read the readme and have all the necessary requirements but no go.

sounds like a messed up custom/ship file some typo was made...
could also be a bad scripts/ships file... caused by another typo.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

Here are the requested files. I did not see a PYC file in the Hardpoints folder or ships folder just PY files.

Hello AustinFa04,

What exactly did you do to get the ship working in game?  Like you, I don't have any PYC files pertaining to the ship.

Thank you.

Hmmmm, Im wondering if Windows7 , or Vista moves the PYC files.

BC on win7 and Vista, ought to be installed in a folder other than 'program files', like #:Games\BC
or something.

Several posibilities:
1. Mod folder structure is not correct
2. You guys manually copied and pasted the files in the wrong directories
3. If Win 7 or Vista -> You unzipped the mod directly to your BC and started Winzip or whatever with non elevated privileges which Windows intercepted and copied to Virtualized folder
4. UAC and Program Files

Hmmm, BC is installed on my Win 7 PC in C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Bridge Commander.  When I download a mod, I first extract all the folders to my desktop and then manually copy them over.  Win 7 prompts me that it already detects a 'data' and 'scripts' folder and prompts me to merge the folders, which I say "yes".  This is the typical method I use to install ships and have no problems with using them in the game.

This is one of the reasons I set up a dual-boot Win7 and WinXP system with 2 discrete hard drives.

All my BC's are in the WinXP partition... no problems.

Do you run the game with elevated privileges?

You don't really need XP to run BC on windows 7 or Vista. One only needs to understand what UAC is and what it does. Or simply know that BC should be installed outside program files.

Hello Archer,

I apologize for taking so long to respond.  In answer to your question, yes I run the game with elevated privileges.

True, but I have a friend who runs BC on a Win7 system and his machine is a pretty powerful one. With all the exact same settings and playing with the same mod, backgrounds etc., etc. BC seems to run a bit... smoother, on XP. And my machine (where I have BC installed on the XP partition) is not as beefy as his.
