I think the way you usually do windows, light blue on top which slowly gradates to white on the bottom, will do very nicely on this model.

This looks absolutely fantastic, btw.

I like this one a lot. The dark panels really makes the ship stand out, against the light colored hull. And the dark panels on the ventral saucer looks good too :P

Thanks guys.  No updates for the next couple of days.  I've got to go to Teachers' Convention, so I won't be able to work on the ship.  I've got a three day weekend coming up though... and my goal is (don't hold me to it absolutely) to be finished the ship before Monday.  And by finished, I mean textured, HP'd, in game, and tested.  Lofty, but I'm gonna try.

I wonder what CG would say about this. He is around here sometimes.

That's awesome DJ... but take your time dude, it'll be well worth the wait.

I'm sure CG would be very impressed. I have a strong gut feeling that the reason it has taken him so long in his ongoing work on his newer Sovereign is that he is a perfectionist to the extreme and finds it very difficult to finish it. And of course there's obviously real life too.

for him, real life is definitely the main reason

Oh my god. Been off the forums for a while (school) but this is fantastic! The swoop.... up to the quantum torpedo turret from the secondary hull and the shape and thickness of the nacelle pylons and saucer is just terrific  :)

Now what about the future Cardie ship?
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
 Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

hey dj this is looking amaizing, though you probably are either using what i post here or dont need it, id like it to be looked at incse any obvious details have been missed, the link i post is a very good image that could possibly be used to add more detail to the model, but keep it to your hybrids standards and BC's poly limit.

hope this will possibly help..

??? What detail is missing?  If I'm not mistaken he's using renders of the CGI model from Nemesis...

Yeah those hand drawn images are kinda outdated since he's using the actual CGI model from Nemesis to build his, which is amazingly accurate.  When he says "Hybrid" he means Nemesis physical model with FC/Insurrection textures.

Got home tonight from the conference.  Worked on the pylons and engines.  Obviously they're not finished yet.  Still going to play with the blue area on top.

That's a fairly nice shade of blue but seems a little dark.  Personally I've always been partial to the shade used on the Nemesis Sovereign itself.
