First thing that sprung to mind was Father Ted. Our American friends won't get it but the scene where Ted is explaining to Dougal about the cows close and far away springs to mind.

Trust me, Tobias Richter was Nice enough to send me a STUPIDLY high quality Orthos of his ds9, so i have the best of the best to work with :D
Not to nitpick, but it's what Trekkies do best.  Aren't the three antennae things sticking out below Ops supposed to be at a slight angle towards Ops?

*Shoots every brit a dirty look*
what the bloody hell, guys, not all entertainment is one way FROM Hollywood.  the Who thread ALONE proves that.  I'm still kicking myself for missing the 50th special!
Even MENTIONING Father Ted guarantees a laugh (and now I gotta find out if I can find that sequence, but knowing Dougal...)

Well got back to ds9 today, and though i am not happy with the docking ring, she is really starting to come along, i've really surprised myself with this, but i am very very happy, even if i know she isnt perfect

I'm hoping we can get some serious textures on these stations.
I like what Baz did on the Fed Starbase but the textures are lacking.
DS9 isn't as big but it seems just as detailed.

I know these are big projects but considering some of the textures the ships have gotten I'd like to see an all or nothing of the two stations that have made Trek History.

Not sure I appreciate the lacking comment. Ships are better as we can run 2048 textures on them. If you want that level on a station your looking 4096 up and with this engine you can forget any other detailed objects in there. We are working within the confines of a decade old system. Sorry nix about the hijack rant.

Baz is indeed correct. The game is over 10 years old now, and to be frank, it's rather amazing the kind of work that is still being achieved on such an old system. Even if ships and stations won't get every minuscule detail added to them, the ships and stations modelled/textured today are leaps and bounds above the stock ships and stations. If you want even higher detail on ships and stations, find a different game.

Considering the fact that ds9 is, as far as I'm concerned, not accurate during the 7 year run there's alway room for personalised feel and look. Looks dam nice so far Phoenix. Colour me impressed so far.

Hard to believe it's that old...and some peeps with good enough systems can churn out screenshots that make me question whether it's from an episode or movie.

Awesome work, so far, Phoenix. I do see what you mean about the docking ring, though - the underside, right?

Thanks for bringing KA back to my consciousness. I still say that that game - while flawed, limited, and massively outdated now - is a far more Trek than any other Starship sim yet released - delve into the code, and it still feels like reading a Starfleet tech manual. Even these days, BC feels skin-deep by comparison. Hopefully Excalibur will recapture that sense.
Given the limitations of the KA engine, that old DS9 model you made looks pretty sweet!

I hope your move proceeds without a hitch.

Baz, I commend you for mentioning Father Ted, and I commend KCS for being (presumably) an American with a correct sense of humour. I've never met an American who knew of the show.

I know how you feel pheonix.  lol  I've rebuilt my DS9 model about 4 times now and am still retexturing the beast.  You model does look good.  Don't forget the indents on the underside of the outer docking ring.  I'm only working with a bunch of screenshots and 1 sideway view.  Wish you luck.  :)
