It could also be an access hatch to do service work on the engine room like on the NX class, granted I'm not sure if ease of maintenance would trump armor (or a really large weapon) on a klingon vessel.

one say's Hannger bay doors another says Fusion Manifold, I always thought it was the aft torp launcher

Yes, it?s not clear. Recently, Tobias Richter finished a high polly version, which, probably, will be featured in one of those Star Trek remastered DVDs: http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/showthread.php?79684-Klingon-Vor%B4cha . Tobias is always in contact with Doug Drexler, John Eaves, official model builders and other peoples from Star Trek world, so, his mesh must be one of the most accurated. ;) In the renderings posted, I can?t see a shuttlebay there. Maybe, it?s the Fusion Mainfold in fact. :)

Ok, so lets be fair, i've been quite anal bout this ship, making sure i got things right or not, NOW i actually had a chat with Rich Sternbach, he has confirmed that i was correct the back area is indeed a Torpedo launcher, so Happy me away i went with today's modeling, firstly i thought the head was CRAP so i decided to redo it, this is the result, First picture is the underside head deflector array

Front of the main bridge

Aft of the main bridge,

as stated the whole head is new, but i will be adding more detail as i go, it just looks a bit bland at present, but it will improve i promise

also the front Top area of the neck was a bit boring i though, so i deleted all the face's and spare polys and decided to start it again, and well i was very happy with the result

Before

After

*EDIT*

I don't know if this is good or not, so be honest here please people so far it is sitting at

6,862 poly's
9,900 Tri's
8,317 Vert's

With nacelles, around 12-15k polygons would be a good limit to shoot for.

It's not the amount of polygons that matter... It's how you use them. :P

Ok this is the last update for the night, I'm really pushing this as i wanted to get this finished before February, but its looking more and more unlikely.

Looking really good, what's the polycount up to?

Back then I'm not sure, But it is currently sitting at

Polys: 5.158
Tris: 7.530
Verts: 6.141

FPS: 119.388 *Frames Per Second??* (I think that's what it represents, BUT if it is, But in WHAT CONTEXT does it mean??)

At this rate texturing will be easy  as all the detail is built it.

A long days work on this today, but funnily there isn't much to show, I have now finished the Sensor array Top sides Inner bits and Neck

This one doesn't have the inside part all done but the others do, as u can see i have added the strange thing on the pylon below the wing and above the nacelle

Now tomorrow's task is to finish off the top side of the hull and move onto the head and get the neck in there so i can connect the two parts.

It's amazing that there's this much detail even though there's only 5,000 or 6,000 polys. Keep up the good work!

Don't forget the bits on the trailing edge of the wings.  Not sure what they are exactly though..
