Nix, you are missing something. That model can't be the tri count you are stating  :P

Finally, a worthy Vor'Cha model! The stock one was so awful that I built my own replacement back in '02 - using my playmates toy for reference. I never properly textured it, so I never released it.

This is bringing back so many memories. How did that ship get so little attention over the years!?
There's been, what? RedDragon's low poly one, and Lint's crazy high-poly one... is that seriously it?!
Incredible when you consider that the stock model was such an utter dog.

Your surface modelling is exquisite! How can the tri-count be so low?

May I point out a missing detail that you are probably aware of?
There are what look like little narrow staircases in front of each of the large slanted grills either side of the Engineering arrowhead. (At least, there are on my playmates model - which is fairly screen-accurate.)

Klingon Academy now works on XP/Vista/Win 7 thanks to one dude's patches, click here for details. I highly recommend it!

Bren there have been 5 diff vor'chas released. I'm quite sure of this number I KNOW for a fact there were more than 2.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

yup im awear of it being there as i have seen the playmates toy and the amt ertel model kit, but i wont be adding them untill i fix that area up, so far she is now sitting at

16,408 tri's

That is after adding the main sensor arrays area, the neck and all that area, I think when finished it will be about 25k which is a bit crap, but once finished i'll do my best to optimize it :D

sorry for the double post, BUT..i have decided that No matter how high the poly count gets i will just keep going, THEN once finished i will try to optimize it to the best of my ability, then Depending on what the poly count is i will delete parts and add them in as texture, THEN what i will do is Delete 1 STEP of all the detail and add that as a second file for Lower spec machines so basically i should have 3 models

High poly, Med poly, Low poly, Then people can choose what they want to use on their copy of bc :D - with any luck that should please all the damn High poly haters :P  :yay:

You could make some damn fine renders with the High poly one Phoenix, that's some bloody good work.

You can show me later :P

Ok I'm really not feeling all that well, all bungged up and shit, so I'm going to call it quits for today, but here you go for the update

Polys: 11,624
Tris: 18.228
Verts: 11.617

FPS: 107.308

I've added the strange things at the back of the hull, i've added the detail onto the side of the neck, and some of the detail on the top and side's of the head, so apart from a couple of other bits i need to add to the head *which i will do last due to being asemetric* and a few other bits on the body, all that will be left is the underside :D with that in my mind im hoping the final count BEFORE i clean it up to be some where around

Polys: 14.422
Tris: 22.988
Verts: 14.022

This is just a rough guess using the ENITRE BODY again added on, so if that is right i'll be happy any more than that i'll start having to lower the count :(
any who I'm just rambleing now so here are the pictures.

When you done with this you should send it to one of those 3D printer companys. She'll make a great model kit.

A lot of models made in the BC community would make great model kits. Too bad AMT doesn't do that.

I'm really enjoying the progress that you are making with this model.  I'm glad to see that you are taking the time to add in as much mesh detail as possible.

excelent work

may i ask:

are the details extruded out of the main model or are they seperate meshes placed on the model and then welded?
