Suggestions for mods for single player
« on: August 16, 2011, 01:05:41 PM »
I've decided to run through the single player campaign again - there's nothing like BC's single player out there, and it's been long enough that I don't mind replaying it now.

Thing is, as far as I can tell, most of the BC mods are intended for multiplayer or non-Single player campaign settings.

I'm going to get the most recent BC Supermod version,

but I was wondering if anyone here has suggestions for other mods which work with / are intended for the single player campaign which they would recommend.
And whether they are compatible with the supermod...

I'm not looking for any major changes, rather anything which spruces up the single player experience or adds any interesting, useful but not game-breaking additions to it.

Eh...BCSM is probably your best bet, but beware it is SERIOUSLY Unbalanced....

Most people who still play the game play Quickbattle, DS9FX and (mostly) Galaxy Charts...just had to clarify  :D anyway BC Supermod has some serious balancing issues. In a lot of the missions ships get destroyed in like 5 seconds...

[Eclipse, you posted as I was typing...cookie for beating me!]
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
 Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

You know what just for practice and kicks I might go through and rebalance the damned thing in the future LOL.  As soon as I get a handle on MPE :)

if it is just a matter of rebalancing ship hardpoints, BCUT is better than MPE for that...

Because of problems with BCs Save/Load system mods for SP are really hard to do.

Also most non-ship-mods won't line up to the story line.

You are a very weird person :P

Even with only Foundation installed you might find the SP game unstable.

Eh, took a look at F.U.B.A.R.'s work...I think i'll stick with my idea of re-balancing BCSupermod.  Just for Sh**s and giggles.

And you're only figuring this out now? :P

He registered at BCS couple of weeks ago. He's young, impatient and willing to make mods, but he needs to learn so much. He also manages to blow up his BC installation more than usual.

And you're only figuring this out now? :P

Nah, you're just weirder than I previously thought.

iirc I fixed that in KM. So it should be possible to create an updated Foundation that doesn't kill SP.
However next obstacle is NanoFX then, followed by GC,...
