The thin nacelle ends make her look far sleeker.

It's a bold new look for the deflector and nacells. I'm sure once DJ does his rendering magic and lets the rest of us in on the mental image in his head it will all make perfect sense. Another fine work from one of BC's master ship builders. :)

Thanks guys.  I started some texture work but I'm not really happy with it.  It's too sovereign looking.  Since the arrangement is already similar to the sov I don't really want to go down that route.  Any suggestions?

I'll keep working on it when I get my computer back from my daughter who is playing DCU.

I've always preferred the lighter colour hulls for fed ships, so how about something like that?
How about something similar to the refit connie? The detail is mostly in the Aztec and it has a pretty clean look. It's not to bogged down in detail like the later ships are.

Perhaps something like some of the new ships from STO?  I personally kind of like the black and white color scheme.  It goes well with the red and blue of the engines.

And by that I mean the color scheme of the Sao Paulo Class, Exeter Class, Thunderchild Class, etc.

hmm Perhaps something Akira like in hull scheme.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

The design already has some elements in common with the Odyssey, I think you should go with something along those lines for color scheme

All good suggestions.  I'm kind of working on a pattern that is similar to the Sov, but less scattered and random.  As for the color scheme, I'm using muted greys and blues at the moment, but I like the idea of a bright white hull.  Pics when I have more progress.

I'm lovin' it.  IMO that grey band which goes from the Impulse engine and stretches around the Bridge area would be neat if Black.

Edit: Actually I mean the shuttle bay, not the impulse engine.

Glad you guys like the way it's shaping up.  Since the deflector seems to be controversial, I did a little work to it.  Trying to keep the same feel while being maybe a touch more conventional.

I think most members know how much I dislike the double deflector that have become your trade mark DJ.
I'm usually about functionality in artistic design but it's not the functionality of the 1.0 Double deflector (although I wonder about the two lit portions dead in the middle of the "dish", The whole purpose of the dish is to be an antennae to cover more area for receiving transmission, a long range scanner as well as an beam emitter so I'm not sure about two holes in the middle of the dish) but artistically it just too simple.  The ship was a remarkably well detail design but it just seemed you did not carry that detail into the deflector. If you look at Galaxy, Voyager, Defiant and Century you might see that Galaxy is one of the simplest Deflectors but it was also very 3 Dimensional and added with the glowing gradient effect conveyed an "all seeing eye" like perception.  Voyagers was very detailed and like yours it had multiple dishes in one yet not as 3 dimensional as the Galaxy.  Defiant was actually very detailed but simple convex lens that gave a 3D effect.  That's something you have to do with a small model.

I can't imagine the end product of 2.0 but I like what I see. It's becoming more 3 Dimensional and since Century doesn't have a huge sunken deflector like Galaxy (In that the sunken aspect of Century's isn't a reinforced portion of the deflector but just hull) to add depth you're pushing the deflector out which is something I don't think we've seen before.  But I think the clincher will be the deflector textures

Well I supose it is going to depend on what you invision the finish product looking like. It is widely assumed by most; and a little backed by BC Fluff; that Soverign had some form of armor plate hence the style of dark and light patches. Does Century have hull armor? If so is it visible to the naked eye? I remeber thinking how the MK1 textures looked so clean compared to Soverign. Maybe use the style and color palets of the Constitution Refit for Century.

Using Defiant, the Armored Voyager and Prometheus as examples of effective use of Ablative Armor...I think it might require less viewports for it to shed energy more effectively from damaging the subsystems Otherwise why make it deploy able in Voyager's case with the shuttle?
