Aeries' SSV Kitsilano (UPDATE Apr.11/2012)
« on: April 02, 2012, 04:13:12 AM »
Inspired by the series Mass Effect, the SSV Kitsilano (SR4 3) is the result of my combining design elements from the SSV Normandy SR1 and SR2 models. This model is entirely built, mapped, and textured by me from scratch, in just around 10 hours so far... though the textures are largely WIP. For the record, it isn't 100% unified as I need to animate it for other projects, but I thought I'd post it here as a prospective mod for the epically bored.

Now stop reading and take a peak at some pics :)

Not bad, not bad at all.  Though, are you sure you want it to be a Cerberus ship? :angel

Yes, absolutely. I'm working on a post-reaper storyline that fits Cerberus in as an assimilated Alliance-run operation similar to the USA's Marines.

Thanks. I'll be in and out on occasion, but I'm disgustingly busy with college and work these days, both full-time. I just grabbed myself the font a few moments ago (at least I think it's the right one... "Slider", is it?)

Love it.  The SR1 is one of my favorite ships in sci fi.

Oh, okay. I found a free version of that ($30 per version of the FONT? OUCH!), but I've been unsuccessful in locating any EULA or anything regarding use so far. The free font does seem legit, though.

Speaking of the font, I have replaced the old with the new so it looks much more legit 'Mass Effect' now. I've also been working on the hull lines and Cerberus paint job, adding the windows, etc... I *think* I got the scale of the windows right? The Kits' is supposed to be between the SR2 and SR1 in size.

It also has that Human Crusier look to it. I like it!

I like that a lot.  I'm not sure if a ship that isn't the Normandy would be an SR-#, but then again, I'm not sure about the naming and numbering of Alliance ships.  Still, I really like the design.

EDIT: Just noticed the third pair of engines, really clever placement that doesn't make the ship look ridiculous.

Not too bad? Its what SR2 should have been.  You have the eye for design.

Wow c'est super  :yay:

I particularly like the ventral view. Shadow got in right when he said it was clever  :)
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
 Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Thanks for all the comments, guys!

Yessir, though the Alliance model will not be the SSV Kitsilano; more likely, the SSV Burnaby or Edmonton.

YES! It took me a while to figure the configuration... this was the only one that I liked and the funny thing is, the ship looks ridiculous WITHOUT the third engine pair!

SR stands for Stealth Recon, so I'd assume any ship in that line would have it.

I suppose so.  Like I said, I'm uncertain about the Alliance's naming conventions.  I guess I'm too used to USS *name* NCC-#####.

Another update! I know BC doesn't support bump maps, but I'm including them anyways since this model isn't just BC-Specific.

How about the famous USS Laffey.  "The ship that would not die"

Still looking good!

EDIT: Aeries?  Is this supposed to be SR3 or SR4?

Edit: Yeah, that could very well work for the Systems Alliance version, although I was also considering having the new Normandy follow in the Kitsilano's footsteps.

As of now, SR3. Originally I was gonna stick with SR4, but it didn't make chronological sense for what I had in mind.

So, the Alliance version as the new Normandy?  Eh.  I say let the name rest until the SR-4. ;)  At least you're not considering Enterprise. :funny
