Definitely a very fine start! :yay:

And might I suggest looking into ftech instead of MVAM so the wings would drop into battle position at red alert?
I believe that there is a Romulan ship in KM that does this very nicely. I would prefer Ftech. But, it is your ship, and I respect that.

It's offset by 15 degrees.  Compare shots of the underside of the saucer between Richter's model and Wiley's.

Boo-frickety-hoo. You are correct, and I'm not changing it, at least not for now.

I can't be perfect all the time.  :roll

Hehe, I'm kidding around.  'Tis not really a nitpick, it's just something I noticed while messing around with the model.

It's still one of the damn sexiest ships we have in BC. :P

The Akira is fully mapped and packed onto 3 2048-px resolution textures. There are some minor areas left to map, but I usually do those when I get to textures.

Agreed. The windows do look just a bit too long. The Akira is a fairly big ship so I can imagine the windows being smaller for proper proportions.

... unless of course the current windows are to "spec".

Can't wait to see just how this looks when finished!  I love the Akira-class, and it desperately needed a new model.  Certainly couldn't think of a better modder to do it.

I could...DJCurtis.

Wiley is awesome, IMO DJ is just as good - different - but just as good.

Perhaps each window is 2 decks long?

DJ's gone
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
 Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

These are the same style windows as on the Galaxy class saucer.  They seem to stretch across the height of an entire deck, and recall that most of the ships we've seen over the years weren't designed from the ground up with maintenance tubes in between the decks as the Sovereign class was.  I would guess then that the Akira class doesn't have any Jefferies Tubes between its decks either.

Personally, I think the textures so far look awesome!  The best I've seen on a BC Akira model to date.
