Installation / D3D error

hey all i'm having the same problem as mentioned in this thread

ive tried all the steps mentioned in this thread and still am getting the D3d error.

i am also getting a windows 7 color scheme modification notification bubble popping up...

suggestions?

hey all created a work around, edited the options.cfg changed the full screen mode to 0 so that its not full screen, and then manually set the resolution
