Job opportunity at Cryptic Studios
« on: August 08, 2013, 05:59:43 PM »
Cryptic Studios are looking for more Ship Artists to work on STO. Industry experience is not a requirement, thou like all jobs, increases your chances of being hired.

I'm absolutely certain that the BC community could muster up a number of talents who could potentially out-do anything currently in STO. I suppose this job opportunity mostly applies to US residents, but even if you don't leave in the immediate vicinity (San Francisco area), Cryptic may assist in moving you to San Francisco.

Well I'm out lmao.  I just can't model using sketch up, let alone 3d studio max!
Guys, I'd at least apply for this if I were you.  Use some of your mods on here as part of a portfolio and all that!

Who knows, if it's one of our boys who gets the job then we might see a marked improvement in their meshes and texturing!  Not to mention getting a man on the inside

For those of you who are applying, good luck!

They have a strict poly count and what not, and textures normally have to work on more then one kind of ship, so I doubt they can improve them that much.

Awesome. Was gonna send you an email suggesting this very thing, if you hadn't seen this thread/link :P

Lord knows, STO could definitely use some better ship artists. Hope it goes well for you Wiley.

So sue me for being optimistic.

Can't blame you for that.

Not sure who comes up with designs over there, probably the head tells the ship artist what kind of design or ship they want, the head ship artist concepts it and what not.

Everyone has an input I've heard. If someone here gets it maybe they'll like one of your designs in your portfolio.

Tho I bet ATM they're looking for more Romulan and Voth designs then anything.

Well, at least with one of the modders from this forum on board, the designs will be a little more creative and less generic than some of STO's current ships.

Sounds like a dream job but not ready to even think about a move from the UK just yet.

Good luck to those who do apply.

Nothing yet, but I hear that Gabriel Koerner got a phone interview with a request: build a custom ship at 8k polies and a week to build it. I haven't heard anything since.

Only one thing for it then.  Send them a custom boat that weighs in at 7k polies!
I would have thought that they would at least acknowledge the application of a man who has made so many great mods, has had his work featured on the covers of books AND is working on stuff for SOTL.
