BC installation Windows 7
« on: February 10, 2014, 11:04:06 PM »
Ok, after going through the topics of windows 7 installation, a repeating thing I see is don't install it in the Program files directory. How do I avoid that?

It will load after I put the cd in and I will click install on the main menu then it flashes black and goes back to where it is pulled up in my desktop.

I just dropped $60 on this game and would love for it to play.

Thanks for any help.

Hello and welcome to Bc Central

I believe you can choose where it installs when you setup for the first time. If it doesn't allow you no biggie just install it as is.
then after install is complete cut the whole folder named Activision (Root Folder) from program files and place it somewhere else. I use my desktop. But anything other then C/program files works to, If your gonna run multiple verisions of the game you might want to rename the Activision folder to suite your needs. Also after you install it you wanna use the
stbc application ( the symbol looks like a gold commbadge with gold BC over it ) also the stbc is lower case not the caps STBC with the ship.

Hope this helps, please reply if this solved your issue may help others in the future thanks.

All you need to do is first create a "games" folder and then install it straight into there. Don't cut and paste afterwards cause you'll screw up the reg entry.

Vista\7\8\8.1 and anything else in the future where a user has UAC turned should be installed outside of program files (for safety only). If you must install it there then you need to run BC as administrator (right click -> run as administrator) which resolves the problem.

Namely the problem is not that you're installing a game into the Program Files. Problems happen when users run BC sometimes as admin and sometimes not, then BC writes its files onto 2 separate directories which could look like the game being broken for users. As long as you at all times run BC with full admin privileges you won't have any problems.
