:dancebig :dancebig :dancebig
Always been a fan of your planet textures.
In this pack, what is different from the first version?
-
Thnx :D
Here's whats new in v2...
1) Redone most of the planet textures, all of the Stock planets have been completely redone at 512x512 res.
2) Textures now "symetrical" so they should warp seamlessly around the planet.
3) Bump mapped certain textures (eg Rocky Planets) to give an added level of depth.
If there are enough downloads, I may release a special v3-High Res version. But that's at least a couple of months away yet!!.
-
very nice, but on that second texture the atmospheric textures do not tile properly.. its a bit hypercritical for me to say anything though considering that I never managed to get my nebula textures to tile properly :P
also - moved to bc modding until there is a download on here.
-
just checked BCFiles FTP, and its not there yet... as soon as it is, i'll upload it right away (unless someone beats me to it lol) :)

Thanks for the feedback, I'm afraid I never thought about retexturing the NanoFX atmospheres,. Maybe something to think about for the next version!! :?

Thnx Jimmy, I hope it's not got lost in subspace!!

I like the maps on it a lot, but...
Glenn, you noticed that you have the spherical mapping stretching at the south pole?
Assuming you used bc stock planets, that happens all the time, but if you make a simple sphere, map properly and export it as nif, you can load it as a planet pretty simple.

Good job on the planet textures.

Thanks for the Feedback LC, I've had a look at the Planet Textures and I still think it's the NanoFX Atmospheres. Take a Look at the Next Picture, this is from a seperate install on my HD without NanoFX installed. As you can see there is no texture stretching here.

Anyways here's a couple more pics, the first is at the Kessok Homeworld, Omega Draconis III!!

Let me know what you guy's think!?

stunning!!!

that's (I think) because BC planets are Spheres and not GeoSpheres.
GeoSpheres are a mesh made of triangles, while Spheres are made of squares which are later triangulated.
that sometimes craps the mapping, but a triangle-based mesh is already smoothed, so the mapping is more regular.

candy for you Glenn, you're completely right.. the stretching we see are the nanofx clouds, not your planetary maps, which looks pretty btw.

Not exactly.
It's more related to the mapping coordinates, them to the shape of the model.
You can still have a geosphere and if it?s mapped incorrectly, it'll stretch at the edges the same way.
Mapping spheres is actually a real pain, because you end up mapping a triangular part into a square part, and that stretches down the map when applying the pixels to the tip.
There's a couple of solutions for that, but none of them are easy, best suggestion is to avoid putting anything that is detailed at those areas and fill them with a basic painted map.

Hey no probs!!, I think I just threw that one in there anyways. I don't really care much for earth textures lol. I'm glad you like the Pack though!! 8)

I have yet to find an earth texture I like myself,
As for the rest of it simply stunning Glenn I loved all your work so far, especialy the GRE Background Pack which are now in every bc install I'd bet, I especialy like the bump mapping, gives things alittle more wow!
