Product placement in a Trek movie?!?
Say it isn't so.

Clip 1 - Uhura asks for a '3 Budweiser Classics'.

If I see anymore product placement in the new Trek movie, I'll puke.

did you also notice she Ordered Slusho? Not Product placement, but Cloverfield reference.

Also whats wrong with a little product placement?

Remember though Billz, she's in a bar in Iowa.  And Budweiser has been around for quite some time, I don't think it's going to die out just because humanity is "enlightened."  Though it is funny she asks for Budweiser Classic.  Wonder if there's New Bud, or some such.  Also, it is pretty cool that she asks for a Cardassian drink.

Interesting article: http://trekmovie.com/2009/04/26/jj-abrams-talks-deleted-scenes-find-out-what-didnt-make-final-cut-of-star-trek/

Apparently the scenes of Nero at Rura Penthe in the trailers, including the infamous "The wait is over" line, are gone from the final cut.  :?

No I didn't notice that...not surprising though.  While still a local Iowa dive, it's still sophisticated, I suppose.

Leaked End Credits track from the soundtrack.  IMHO...epic.

EDIT: Star Trek Burger King toys are up for sale on eBay, and one of them was very unexpected.  Not a Romulan ship in the bunch, the only ships are a badly rendered USS Enterprise and USS Kelvin, the cop's hover bike, a Feddie shuttle(which is the only thing that ISN'T Super-Deformed), the Jellyfish(not as accurate looking as the shuttle, but not as SD as the E and Kel), and the surprise...a Klingon battle cruiser.  And near as I can tell, it's very, VERY much like the D7/K'tinga class cruisers, maybe with a few more weapons thrown onto her, though, sadly, super-deformed.  Which is very odd considering that the stuff with the Klingons has apparently been cut out of the final movie.

Battlecruiser at the bottom right

Well, at least JJ hasn't completely perverted the D7. :P

Another thing (and this goes out to all original trek as well): Do we ever find out Uhura's first name? Cos she makes it stand out she doesn't mention it big time in one of the spoiler-y clips.
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

Nope, but it does look like the ol' battlecruiser has some new teeth.

Nyota is her first name, but it hasn't been seen on screen yet, and in the clip it seems as though she goes out of her way to ignore the fact that Kirk wants to know it.  :P

Another question: Where the hell is Number One? If Pike is there, she should be to. :P

Wasn't that already mentioned? Or am I going mad?

And where's Number One? :P

I don't see it in the last few pages.

Guess we'll have to wait for the movie.

Also, on the dossiers page, Scotty's mentions an Admiral Archer... :)

Awwww, darn. But it can't be Spock as XO...cos he was only science officer in Pike Trek but this is JJ we're dealing with...so who the f*** knows!

And I think Admiral Archer in canon terms is dead by the 2330's. Then again, JJ's the word...:P

2330's? Don't you mean the 2200's?

Also by what was said on screen (canon) we don't know when archer dies, but according to the Visual effects apartment, the continuation of the Screen shown in 'In a Mirror Darkly" says the Archer died the night the Enterprise was launched.

EDIT: Read the Page, could be a decedent of Archers most likely.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that Scotty mentions 'Messing with Admiral Archer's Beagle.'

1) Ofcourse they are kid-ified, they are for little kids after all. Have you seen all the other tv/movie toys for little kids(not just done by BK and such but any where)? These look just like every other...bug heads with little everything else. I hope soon we will actually get to see what the new D7 looks like before May 8th.

2) So, I guess Ambassador Spock doesn't die like I thought. "...then again there is nothing that happens to me in this movie that would prevent me from doing more."
All hail the messiah!

Well, there's no telling if the Adm. Archer mentioned is ol' Jonathan.  Even so, what would this be, Porthos IV?

As for the elusive Number One, it's entirely possible that she served with Pike on a different ship prior to the now delayed launch of the Enterprise.  Who knows.

Oops. :P

I just feel that Number One would have just have been a welcome sight. She's virtually unheard of.

I'd go see it in iMax if there was one anywhere near me.

And yes, I capitalized it that way on purpose.  :P
