Well, look at pics from early in the trailers. The Narada is probably about 25 km away from the Kelvin and it is pretty much taking up the whole screen. No doubt thats its no less than a mile in length.

I didn't know Paul McGillion was in this movie. Dr Beckett FTW!

Nothing related to Oceanic 815, Dharma Intiative or Hanso Foundation? Its J.J and Lindelof for goodness sake. Why is there nothing related to LOST in the credits like with Cloverfield or M.I:3?

I suspected that Majel and Gene Roddenberry would get dedication notes there somewhere. They deserve to be remembered for all time.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

Agreed.  New image of the Enterprise is up at Trekmovie, but no high res version that I can give yet. :(

"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

Post the new high res Enterprise picture here please. I would like a Trek XI related wallpaper but clicking that picture doesnt lead to a high res version for me for some reason.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

New interview up at TrekMovie: http://trekmovie.com/2009/05/04/exclusive-interview-with-leonard-nimoy/

:) Mr. Nimoy is truly a class act, and I'm pleased that he joined Star Trek once more.

Just saw it and OH MY GOD!

Okay, I think even Jimmy will like it. I've already got tickets to see it with a second set of people, and I only just got home from the cinema. :D

I won't spoil a thing, but I will say that JJ did very well in making a point of the audience knowing it's an alternate universe.

I also noticed the Picard Maneuver and a Chopper reference too, wonder if anyone else will pick up on the former (Extremely subtle). And I will say this, too:

The movie is amazing from the very start with a very Trek-esque intro (if Roddenberry were starting the franchise in this era, this is what it would be). JJ has done a fantastic job on the whole thing, keeping the right amount of comedy, action and also the moral message Trek has always conveyed, but perhaps you have to go in looking for it as opposed to the corny ways we are used to and love so much.

You wouldn't believe how many times I had to go through this post and get rid of the f-bombs I dropped just thinking about it.

EDIT: First in first win. Also, I'd choose this over the original any day. And no, I won't say otherwise. It was that amazing.

...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.

Trust me buddy, I went in somewhat excited and came out blown away, and I started out just as if not more cautious as you (Perhaps with even less hope for it).

You'll love it. Scotty does, it's exciting! :P

Also, anyone else who has seen it needs to PM me right away so I can be all OMGWOWAWESOME with them without ruining anything for the others. :arms:

Suddenly, I feel inspired...

Blasphemy! Burn the heretic!
 :P

I wished I could've gone to the advance preview today at my local ODEON but I had to work all day. Only time I'll be able to see it is on Sunday since I'll be working normal PLUS overtime Friday and Saturday. Maybe I can shift Fridays hours around a bit and see it at its premiere time of 2:00pm. Who knows?

I just saw the opening show in IMAX, AND OMG IT WAS AWESOME!!

Great comedy, great action, and great acting along with a well written story.

(they stuffed in a lot of little canon backgrounds/events and other little things into this story)

There were also subtle nodes to previous films in the story.

OH BTW I was right about the Ent having a window on its bridge (for the view screen) :P
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.
