...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.

I just want to say - since it was my post that was directly addressed, that you should read what I posted in its entirety. There is a section to it called "Things I loved:" in which many of the points made under "Things I hated:" are also listed... making a rebuttal somewhat pointless - but as we are just throwing around opinions, have at.

I've already explained how things can be both good AND bad for the movie. Chances are I agree or disagree with what you said, regardless.

Such is the nature of opinions.

After my post was addressed though: TL;DR

To limey and newman on Star Wars weapons:

Remember when Star Trek felt like it had capital ships? I remember the hide and seek of ST:II or the search and destroy of ST:VI - two movies considered to be great with equally great (perhaps the greatest) space battles in the series. I didn't feel the 'captial-shipness' in this movie.

Okay...I don't know where the discussion is going, so I'm going to offer up this simple fact.  I went to the movie yesterday(3rd time) with 4 guys.  Two of which are big time Trek fans, one of which being old enough to remember TOS.  One of which was as die hard an anti-Trekkie as you can get without outright hating it.  All of them loved the movie.

Oh, and this was put up on Ryan Church's website:

I just want to show ya somethings about this movie... those who say it has an Ipod bridge?? is it because it is white and bright as well as practical?

hmm looks like they took the TOS Pilot bridge and updated it to fit the lines between TOS and TMP that is the 2258 launch.

[IMG]http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/startrektev/PikeBridge001.jpg[/img

and now about those who think the new/old Ents shuttle bay is to large for the ship, well here is a TMP pic of the Ents shuttle bay.?
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

Well thats one way to defeat everything. I think that the problem with the iBridge is that it's shiny as well. The Pilot bridge wasn't and had more contrasting colours like black. The current bridge is shiny, very little black and smothered in blue lights.

As soon as I saw the first screen shot of what we are now calling the iBridge I knew the movie was not going to be something I'd enjoy or the direction I'd like to see Star Trek go in but I along with Jimmy and a few ours were shouted down.

I'm pleased to see well respected members like Newman, Billz and Limey backing up what I've thought all along. I thought I'd be able to live with redesigned Enterprise exterior as she has the right feeling on screen, the corridors I can live with but I agree with all the negative comments made about the iBridge, engineering, shuttlebay and all the other short commings that have been pointed out.

Now if Hollywood needs us to read comics to enjoy and understand films then I'd better start reading the comics that tie into the upcoming Transformers film as it's been written by the terrible two!

This pretty much sums up how I feel about the movie.
This is a very good review and shows a bit like i feeling about the film too.

I have grow up with TNG and DS9 and I barely know TOS, but I'm a big fan of the TMP-era films and I went
to the film with an open mind, and after reading some critics on some official film-sites I were actually
quite exited about the film.

After saw it, I have a very mixed feeling about the film. I do not hate the film, tbh, I have indeed enjoyed the film in some way!
Like Limey said already, I think this is a very good sci-fi blockbuster but tbh, I would feel a lot better
when the film would be actually a real reboot and not connected in the way, we saw, to the old Star Trek.

I will not go into an debat of continuity and canon here, because I never became stunted about this that much. In
every show and in every film you will find continuity holes and logic errors, and I never judged a episode or an film
by that. Though something that buged me a bit was the engineering room. It really have absolutly no common to the
engineering rooms we saw in the series or in the previous films, the rest of the sets were on the whole ok.

The story were really nothing special and is in my opinion the weakest part of the film, it reminds me a lot of nemesis.
I really hate the scene on delta vega and those monsters on the ground of the planet. Wasted money for special effects
in my opinion. I would have rather seen some more battle in the Earth orbit. It seemed Earth have no defense systems.
(that also buged me already in some of the series, that sometimes it semmed to that Earth is defenseless)
Also like Newman pointed out already, they sometimes blow the special effects out of all proportions, sometimes less is more!
I'm not to fond of the new phaser and torpedo effects, it looks to much after Star Wars in my opinion, but this is also nothing
that ruined the film for me, so I can live with it.

Though there are some things I didn't was to fond of, there were also quite a lot things I liked on the film.
For example, I really liked the new warp effect, also I really liked the opening sequence with the destruction of the Kelvin.
One of the most remarkable scenes for me! Also I liked the kobayashi maru test and the scene, where they went to the Enterprise on the space station, and  I really liked the shuttle hangar of the Enterprise.

Most of the characters actors did a fine job. Karl Urban as McCoy was one of the biggest highlights of the film for me.
He did an spot on job, DeForrest would be proud :) Also I really liked Captain Pike and Spock and Kirk were well played too.

You can clearly see that the film was made for mass. You don't need your brain to watch this film, and this is no film
with depth and a message, but tbh, some of the old Trek movies already had not anymore the depth that some of the episodes have.
Though you can't say, that the producers of the film haven't concerned with the matter of Star Trek. The film isn't produced just for Trekkies, but I think they also tryed to respect them and the "old" Trek and you can clearly see that they put some
things and hints to the film that just a Star Trek fan can recognize.

At the end I have to say that even if I didn't can connect this film that much with the Star Trek I know and love, I quite enjoyed the film and I will also go into the cinema when they make another film!
At any case I'm convinced that this film will breathe some fresh air into Star Trek, and everyone here have to admit, that that film could have been a good deal worse :)

I'm not shouting you guys down that didn't enjoy the movie.  I don't understand it considering that some fans who are older TOS fans than most of us love the movie, but to quote a famous Scotsman, "Everybody's entitled to an opinion."  And it seems to be divided among the fans as I thought it would be.

Oh yeah, I gotta agree! They really had that "BAM!" kinda heart-pounding effect. Loved it!

The warp speed effects reminded me of Star Wars. >_>

But in a good way.  Warp drive and hyperdrive behave similarly by pushing the ship out of normal space(subspace and hyperspace respectively).

Now that is one thing I didn't like about the movie. It was way too loud. I mean, okay it would be how a actual warping effect would look if possible but did it really need to be deafening aswell?
Can't wait for 2014 to start.
