I'm honestly disappointed that they made him have the classic Chekov speech impediment. The Russian language doesn't have a "W" but it does have a "V", but Chekov can't pronounce words beginning with "V"? I wanted a Chekov with a real accent. As for Scotty, his main problem is that he came in over half-way through the movie so he didn't get a chance to show off his engineering skills. And as for the comedic parts for him, he really only had the water tube scene and the following where he asks for a towel.
But, as I've noticed just from this thread, there are some people who won't like the movie no matter what, and I won't try to sway you guys to think otherwise. I'm just glad we didn't get another bombshell like Nemesis. That and Enterprise should have killed Star Trek, but apparently Paramount thought otherwise. And while it's obvious the Trekkie population is divided between those who like and don't like the new movie, it HAS given the franchise new life. Not to mention the fact that a few non-fans really like this movie. What's funny though is that, even with all the division I'm seeing here and elsewhere, there is no such division among all the people I know that have seen the movie. Weird.
Oh, and someone did an analysis of the new Enterprise and using the supposed "official" length of the craft constructed a possible deck "layout". I put the layout in quotes because it doesn't take into account the fact that the engine room probably isn't segmented quite that way, but it does give a good idea as to how the ship can be that big:
