If you want everything explained, two-hours are not long enough for that, plus it'd be fanwank.
on the flipside, to leave out such obvious important things that the storyline requires for alot the movie to make sense is poor quality writing...
there are too many things "answered/explained in the comics!" and thats just ridiculous...
Quite on the contrary. For normal folks it's clear: Baddie with big honkin ship from the future goes postal. The dont't need to know the whole damn backstory to get it.
For Trekkers, on the other hand who want to know such things, there's the comic.
It is an interesting bit of minutiae but in the long run, you get the film without knowing it.
Remember it is a plothole if it breaks the films internal consistency. It does not. Not everything is eexplained - the important things are and that's that. Folks, you aren't the moviegoing public. You're FANS.
