Plus that's the wrong date.  It's November 17th...though I'd prefer the 2nd.

I think it's interesting how the DVD package is going to be used for another Augmented Reality type tour of the Enterprise.  I wonder if it'll be the movie model of the ship instead of the Star Trek DAC model...if not, then I'm definitely grabbing the blu ray, it has a feature on the Ent and Narada with 360 degree views...good for modders. :P

Pity, for those of us without blu-ray players.

Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

Its 2nd November for Europe, 17th November for the rest of the world.

We sometimes get DVD releases earlier here. Atlantis season 3 (I think) and LOST season 3 were released earlier here than in the US so it wouldn't surprise me if the same were true for XI.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

I just hope that the Klingons in the cut scenes are done like Klingons pre-TNG.  Also, I hope the special effects are in place.

Well... they're supposed to have ridges. Just that they screwed around with genetic engineering which caused a viral mutation and they lost their ridges (ENT season 4). Would be about time for them to start getting back their ridges during TOS :P

It could be that the lower caste (ridge less) were used as guards at rura penthe.

That'd make sense, I doubt being a prison guard is on the list of the most honorable professions in the Empire.

Are you kidding? Would you trust someone without honor to keep your enemies locked up?

...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.

But would you trust someone without honour to beat and mentally destroy an un-armed populace? I would, and so does the Council.

They've put up a new site for the dvd/blu-ray sets. There is a comic-con exclusive video for the special features which shows two of the kelvin-bash ships. The first is one of the quads(USS Newton NCC-1787) and a Miranda class in Kelvin form (USS Defiant NCC-1764/84 kinda hard to make out). It also shows some behind the scenes stuff aswell.

It is 1764, the official trek site (Linked in that article) has a video previewing the Special features and you can see the 'Defiant'.

Okay, now this really kinda freaked me out.  I'm currently watching "Journey to Babel" and Amanda described a time when Spock came home with a split lip and anguished because of how the other Vulcan children told him he wasn't really Vulcan, and then I remembered the scene from the movie where Spock started pummeling that one Vulcan kid, and I realized that that was what Amanda was describing.   Orci and Kurtzman really DO know their Trek.

Exactly that. For whatever faults the movie had, they did have plenty of tidbits spread out in the movie in relation to past known canon. The movie was quite enjoyable for the non-Trekkies in the audience (a friend of mine enjoyed the movie, and he otherwise HATES Star Trek). And was MOSTLY enjoyable for the Trekkies, in part because it had so much canon background information, which the non-Trekkies would be pretty much oblivious to.

Yeah the two did know their Trek history I'll give them that but their knowledge of the Treknology annoyed me but I guess that can all be explained through the changes in the timeline.

Wonder if we'll see Cpt Braxton in the next film trying to undo all Nero's damage?

On a side note I think I'll go watch Journey To Babel.

Eeeek!  No Braxton!  I had enough of him in Voyager.  Matter of fact, Voyager did stuff like that a lot.  Oversaturation of the good stuff in Trek.  Q, time travel, Borg...bah.

What about the Treknology was done wrong?  And don't bring up the size of the Enterprise, that wasn't the writers' doing.
