Awww, so those awesome nacelles you showed us earlier are scrapped?  Rats. :P

Good start on the saucer, but I can't think of anything you could try that's unique.  Anyone else? lol

Well I've been having a lot of difficulty picking this stupid thing back up, for whatever reason... designing the new saucer [rather, fabricating the thing in Max] is proving to be a colossal problem as I have no idea where to begin or how to go through with it step-by-step... and I WANT THIS STUPID SHIP DONE ALREADY!! Lol...

I have a couple sketches done for concepts of the new saucer, on the top perspective. They're the only sketches I have done so far, before anyone asks... :P I have a really cool idea for some new nacelles, too... anyways, so far the ONLY thing I'm happy with is the secondary hull as seen in the previous posts on the previous page. So here's the pics... I couldn't scan them so I took a photo. Lol... if anyone has any ideas as to how to go about building this damned thing step-by-step or even where to bloody start, I'd be greatly appreciative.... it's really irritating the hell out of me!

I know this is much older, but ti looks a hell of a lot like rengers Acheron. It's still cool though!

You're re-designing her again? How many times have you done that now, lol?

But I'm glad that you are at least thinking about finishing her. Such a good ship shouldn't go to waste.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

It's not by choice; the old mesh had way too many errors for me to possibly fix so I could do nothing but abandon it...

The Ancheron and the Mithra have always looked quite a bit similar. I tend to think of the Mithra as the Ancheron's BIG brother... pick on the Ancheron and you gotta pick on the Mithra too! xD lol.

Lol well they're just concept sketches so I'll be incorporating bits of both. my challenge is finding some way to construct the freaking saucer around the engineering section.

Triple post. Maybe Jimmy or someone can merge them later if they feel obligated to do so. :)

I've been working on merging the new secondary hull with the old saucer model, and cleaning up the saucer as I go. It's really hard work, as I really made a huge mess of the mesh but slowly it's coming together and things are getting cleaned up a bit. As you can see, there's still a cr@p-ton to do. I also have to redesign some new nacelles... I have some cool ideas.

But yes... LOTS of work to be done still.

Advice and recommendations for new additions/revisions of components and features are very welcome!

Your Mithra looks very nice, but there are lots of parts that can be textured on rather than modeled on. I prefer to keep all of my models under 30k polys to prevent any serious mesh errors. Try to keep the overall ship simple with some detail, because the rest is helped with textures. Keep it up.

It's about 42k right now, WITH the deflector grating mesh. It'll probably be closer to 22k or 32k when she's all done. I've sent her to Limey for a serious cleanup job. Thanks for the high praise, guys. :]

Wiley, one of these days I may be looking to you for some photoshop guidance if you have no argument with that... I swear I can't use that darn program worth the excrement of dog. x__x

Haha thanks guys. :D

UPDATE!

I've built some new nacelles... I think they just scream "Badass", eh? :P I personally thought they'd be far better than the old ones.

SPECIAL THANK YOU to Limey for his excellent work in cleaning up the Mithra's saucer mesh. It's much cleaner now than it used to be so I have a fresh start with armor and other details [Only this time, it'll be SO much cleaner and much easier on poly count.]

pics...

I like it... Cookie away!
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
