This looks already much better than your first try, I can't wait
to see what you come up with the rest of the ship :)

Thanks everyone! ^___^
I should have a really good update later on tonight. Just a little insight, I did decide to reuse the old nacelles. The ship just didn't look right without them, and there's nothing wrong with the old nacelles; they just need some optimizing.

Will post an update tonight!
Thanks again!

WOO HOO! Update time!

:) Lemme know what you think, and give me some brutal honesty! What needs to be improved? :)

Note: torpedo launchers, phasers and deflector dish are NOT done, yet. Neither is the pod pylon or the pods themselves... I just felt obligated to not let my forum topic die... :P I hate doing that!

excellent work, this shaping up nicely :D

one question, sorry if that asked already, but I'm too lazy to look on previous pages :):
How big will this ship be?

Anyway, I think you have deserved a cookie for your work :D

Thanks! And no problem. :) The Mithra will be slightly larger than Dj's Century. This is due to her role in the Federation, being similar to the Nebula Class, though specializing particularly as a platform for large-scale ambushes within nebulae and other phenomena. She's also equipped as an ultra-long-range explorer, and a front-line offensive/defensive platform. in other words, she's a prettier nebula with bigger guns. The trick for me is, despite the specs, balancing this ship with Dj's work, as I've specifically designed the Mithra to 'match' his idea of the future federation. It'll be tricky, without making her a 'god ship', but it'll have to be done... :/

Edit: Thanks for the cookie! ^_^ The support means a lot to me.

She's takin shape, and that shape is, in the words of a Maximal, "ultra gear"!

Hey, thanks everybody! ^__^ I'm very proud of myself, especially now that I've been working on optimizing the model. On that note, I wanted to tell you all of something I'm particularly proud of.

Remember how the original model was about 12k polies? Yeah... even with all the added details and everything, and since I've started optimizing the warp nacelles, the Mithra is currently sitting at about 5400 polies. Once I've worked in all the details I want, and optimize it a bit, even WITH all the intricate little things I want to add, she'll probably not pass the 7-8k mark. My personal MAXIMUM is 10k, and even then, I dont want to go quote that high. I'm very happy with this...

I'm SO not used to complimenting myself. Such an awkward thing...

^_^ So yes! I'll be working on it more today, so I ought to have a good update tonight. I think I may forgo the pods for now, and just make the NX variant first, without them. We'll see. The pods are just perplexing me at the moment, and I think she'd look better without them, all things considered.

Anywhooooooooooo, thank you all so much for the compliments and support. It's certainly turning out to be... "Ultra Gear"!! :P Haha, funny Shadowknight.

the only bit i dont like is the bit that connects the saucer to the neccels.. looks a bit too thin.. as if 1 torp could totaly go thru it xD.. i sugesst making it a bit fatter :P

Yeah, I may widen it a little, but that'll cause a lot of smoothing errors I REALLY dont want to spend my time repairing. That's the only really frustrating thing about this... smoothing errors just come *poof* out of nowhere. *grumble grumble*

Thanks!
When I made the buzzards, it was kind of a half-arsed attempt in Milkshape, and as such, didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. Actually, they're sort of a mess... and now that i'm in AC3D, I intend to re-work them once I've minimized the poly count on the nacelles a bit more. :)

Personally, I like how the buzzards work here, I mean it could use a little smoothing, but I'm seeing a cool concept here.

The Mithra Project is on HOLD.

My home computer is trashed and I don't even know, yet, if the HD I saved the Mithra on is operational. I don't have the money for replacement components and in my life, shit has hit the roof; nevermind the fan. :/

Blaaarrrggg. I'll work as fast as i can to ensure I get this project back on the road...

Sorry everyone.
