Ya, I can see the difference.  Those "details" did look better while they were still there, despite the smoothing errors.

I second that.

Dudes, Lint has worked wonders with this. I'm SO happy, and have every intention to follow his example, and pick his brain for every little detail...

So here's the last pic he sent me last night. I must say, He's done an absolutely amazing job cleaning up after me. :P

With all she's been through, it just goes to show what kind of ship she is: strong and stubborn to the bitter end. Kinda like me, which is why i never gave up on her. :D

OH! I also got myself a new video card, so I can continue my work. Also got another gig of ram, so I'll be running 2.5gigs soon. >:] Tee hee hee...

Though the card is unimpressive in comparison to my old (buggy) card, whereas the old one was an ATI Radeon HD 2600pro (512 mb), the new card is a GeForce 8400GS Silent (256mb)... though it says in the specs that I can allocate another gig of ram to it, so I'll probably give it the extra 512, so i have a good 2 gigs for the system and programs, and 768 megs for the graphics card...

Anyways, enough of my blabbering. :P News is, I'll be getting back to the Mithra tonight, provided Lint's done with her then. I have a tonn of ideas, and he's got some too... working together, I'm certain the Mithra's going to come out beautiful. I must say, I'm freaking impressed with my very first project. (EGO BOOST!) :P

Thanks SO much, everyone, for showing this much interest in the project. Makes me feel a lot better about it, and keeps the project going. So, thanks. :)

-Aeries.

Haha, thanks guys. Not too much left to do with her, I think. Just have to make the deflector dish and tweak a bunch of things to improve the overall model... (secondary hull thickness, changes to the saucer to make it a bit more balanced with the rest of the ship, build the phaser strips, etc... shouldn't take too long.)

After that, it's texture time! My first built-from-scratch textures! I'm SO hyped! :D

Just so everyone knows, while I'm waiting on Lint to add the the Phaser Strips, I'm utilizing my time wisely (for a change) and trying my hand at UVW Mapping. It looks simple enough, and the tutorial Blaxxer posted is excellent... I just thought I'd prepare myself so I know what's coming. Wish me luck, guys. :D

Haha, thank you very much! :)

To be honest, I haven't touched the Mithra for a while; I'm just waiting on a few things. Aditionally, my net's been so slow that downloading tutorials has been next to impossible. Though, tonight, it seems to be operating fairly well, so I hope to get a nice big heap done soon.

Edit: particularly, I mean MAX tutorials... for once in my life, I don't think I can start with this without first reading up on how to do some things, or at least have a nice big, fat, reference at my disposal whenever I need it. :)

Okay, so I've made some cool additions to the Mithra, but as I was using the old application, due to some time constraints, the ship's been reverted to an error-full hell. I can't wait on Lint to finish the phasers before I do anything else, so while I'm waiting on him to get through his mounds of other projects, I guess this is what I'll do. I decided to forgo texturing for the moment; the entire model has to be regrouped and everything anyways, and it's STILL lacking a deflector... or was, though I finally got started on it.

In any case, what I'm needing to know now, is how Lint fixed the model before? He's probably hella busy with life at the moment, as I haven't heard from him in almost a week, so i decided to post my questions here. Please keep in mind that I know almost nothing about Max, so direct me as if I'm a complete and total noob... wait, I am, aren't I? :P

Thank you guys LOTS in advance! I'll post a couple screen shots of the Mithra, one and two are what it looks like in the old app, just so you can see a "good" view of the things I've added. And the third is what I need to fix, as seen in Max.

Changes/Additions:
-Widened aft section of the secondary hull to make it seem a little less slender/fragile.
-Added base to work from for upcoming deflector dish.
-Large dorsal and ventral sensor palettes.
-Moved back the forward torpedo turret to just in front of deflector.

Again, thanks a lot!

-Aeries.

Edit: I also really need to know how he fixed her before, so that: 1. I don't have to hassle him all the time to fix my mess. And 2. So he doesn't slap me for making a mess again. :P
