Revision One of my "defiant style" Mithra deflector. For whatever reason, I'm having problems getting the stupid transparency texture to work... oh well. Anyways, I've also re-done the sensor palettes and added a couple more. I still have to re-vamp the "prongs" on the deflector housing and I plan to just delete most of the secondary hull and re-do it smoother and less... icky... I did it the other day but with a lightning storm, my computer crashed and the then-28k-poly Mithra with all new stuff was just gone. I was just about to click the 'save' button, too. Gosh dangit. Anywho, here's a render. Actually... I kinda really like this pic. :] I really wanna do something with that empty space in front of the deflector housing, but I'm not sure what. Suggestions are welcomed. Oh, and I am very well aware of the smoothing issue on the sides of the secondary hull near the deflector... don't know why it's there. Everything's fine... :/ Blaaahhh.

PIC!

I love the new deflector!  It's unique, while still looking like it came from earlier vessels!

As for something in front of it...I don't know. I would say a turret, but I think she's well enough armed as is. *shrugs*

Lookin great Aeries. As for the space in front of the deflector, the ship already has a ton of weapons, so why not something unique like a downward launching shuttle bay?

I'm not sure a downward launching shuttlebay would fit with the rest of the ship to be honest. I think it only makes sense on small ships that don't have room for a normal one. It would limit the speed at which shuttles could be launched and docked.

i agree with limey, a down facing shuttlebay worked well on the defiant because it suited it, i dont thing it would suit this ship.

agreed. also consider that (despite claims) this pretty much is a warship by design, so as such she should be a fairly lean ship without a lot of the comfort and luxuries of a sovereign or galaxy

Why not some sort of Airlock to launch mines from?
That would fit the Warship role, I presume?

That wouldn't work so well...

ok, what about remodeling it a bit and make something like ten forward out of it?
she may be war designed but a bar and contact zone is appropriate (sp) in every starfleet ship I think

Could work if it's round and smooth enough to fit the design ^^

also i dont think any part of the hull is supposed to be directly in front of the main deflector, so try not to make anything to obtrusive

I think, looking at how the ship started and how she has turned out, you have made more improvement as compared to the initial design then I have ever seen before. :) The Mithra really has grown into one of the most (if not THE most) anticipated ship of the moment. I really like how she's turned out to be so far. The Mithra is absolutely fantastic today.

Thanks, guys. A quick update, tried out the upper saucer vent thingies. I kinda like them. Not too sure yet, though. The shape somehow seems too bland... let me know what you think. Also, I'm well aware of the errors already. Please ignore them. :]

seconded.
but what are those vent things for??
they look cool and bring more detail into this ship, but I don't yet realize what they are for!
