Terrific job Marky. Looks sweet.

Question:

I realize this is just a hospital ship and is normally only equipped with shields. But, if I could suggest that perhaps this could be an "upgraded" Olympic Class that is exactly the same as the original in all respects except with the addition of a small number of phasers for the sake of being able to at least partially defend itself in case it runs into a species that can care less of whether it's a hospital ship or not.

Defend itself long enough to at least stay in one piece before it warps out to safety.

Once again, just a suggestion.  :)

It's looking great! I think the sphere needs some more sides to it to smooth it out. Other than that, its pretty much perfect :)

Very nice mesh there markyd, I'm so glad some finally decided to have a crack at the Olympic Class. It's one of the few ships that is sadly still lacking in BC!! :)

Great work, Keep it up!!.

Thanks guys, just a quick render of the mapping, purely to show progress. I am now working on the textures.

Yes it probably could do with some more, mabey on revision 2 when i think about making an alernative version with more weapons, hull plating and different necelles. thanks.

Yeah as said above, i want to make a tougher version... but for this one i will toy with the idea of having phasers and torps added if thats what you guys want?

Thanks mate.
Just a question, what is the ship's name going to be? Pasteur, Nobel, or something else? If the latter please make up a registry :D.

Why do I need it? You will see :P.

I was going with Pasteur, but they way it is mapped it will be easy for me to release blanks for custom regs, and if you like  a couple of suggestive replacements.

Again Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.. back to texturing, should be showing  a wip a little later.

Hi guys, so I have applied aztecs now to the whole ship, and started work on those impulse engines as seen. The hull coulour will be changed, and their may be a couple of mesh corrections required.

Their are two extruded strips on the top and bottom of the globe, i am considering texturing these as phaser strips. what do you guys think?

Thanks.

i think that would work well. perhaps not canon, but definitely a believable substitute.

Maybe release a pack of Olympic class variants, one being the medical ship variant (the Pastuer) and another that is a more general purpose/explorer type that is a little better armed.

Agreed.

And IMHO, I don't think a pack is needed. This ship is classic by itself.

i think thats a neat idea!  360? phaser arc?  i dont think ive ever seen that in BC!  i think the closest ive seen to something like that is the arc on the saucer section of the Galaxy Class, but thats not a 360? arc...

Yeah, but a type 7 probably isn't going to be all that great in combat :P.

Wtf is a type 7?

Great job so far on the ship. I actually quite liked the ship when it appeared in AGT.

I think he meant a Type VII phaser.

I feel Type VIII would be good... with a relatively fast recharge rate. Taking into consideration that this is a more late 24th/early 25th century ship.

ya i think a Type VIII with a burst-fire and fast recharge would look cool when it is firing ingame :)

I have to agree with this here.  and it would be cool to have a 360 degree arc :D
