Edward class(TMP era) - WIP
« on: October 01, 2008, 06:21:37 PM »
Edward class - Troop transport/Cargo ship
http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/blueprints/vance/Schematic_TMP_Edward.jpg

The only things i am actually having trouble with are the nacelles, nacelles pylons, and the lower sensor array on the saucer. Not sure exactly what technique to use on those.

This is my first model I've done in 3ds Max. Suggestions/Constructive Criticism welcome.

EDIT: The mesh isn't smoothed, yet.

As for the nacelles, you're in for the headache of your life...

maybe adding it directly to the hull without pylons?

No, no, the shape of the nacelle, it's sooo damn awkward that you'll be taking tranquilizers by the time you're done it right.

Looking good Grunt. When you're done with this and get it on BC Files, I have a request for you since you're good at TMP Ships. :)

yea it's not a bad looking ship thus far. You could also cheat and kitbash with exsisting p81 nacelles. ;)
I just realised something. I've released over 300 fully modded ships for bridge commander. Bow to your master :D

Well it's a TOS Series ship that I've been gawking at.  Reminds me of a TOS version of the Springfield Class

The model looks really good. Are you going to create your own texture or use Moonrakers?

Ive smoothed a few finished mesh pieces. I've decided to kitbash with Moonraker's nacelles. The textures will look similar to Moonrakers, or parts from Moonrakers.

Opinions?

EDIT: 6933 polys...lol.

The center section looks VERY dull. Perhaps add ribbing to the hull like on the J-Class or something just to give it something to do. Would give it more of that cargo/troop ship look, too.

The details on the top, or the fact that the cargo containers make up the ship?

maybe you should make a VARIANT (not questioning the original design, like you said) where the nacelles are over the middle of the cargo section, and maybe with 4, two on the top, two on the bottom, like the Constellation Class?  it looks alittle lopsided to me.

Sure, should be an intresting outcome.  :)

Note - Since its a variant question, its ok since it doesnt refer to the design(i hope i worded that right, lol)...i was just a tad strict when writing my first post. edit time.  :dance
