Hey,

Looking good. I LOVE FASA and Fasa inspired shps. You do realize an Edward is essentially a streeeeched
Overfield class. In fact it will be very easy for you to also make a Overfield if you like.

http://home.comcast.net/~ststcsolda/federation/overfield/overfield.html

The main differences are its not as long (maybe a third as long) and the nacelles are mounted on the sides
with the pylons attaching to the top, much like a Klingon D-10, although the mounts are not canted and are mounted amidships

Just a thought...well done!

Qapla!

PS What version of 3dmax are you using?

Thanks.

You do realize an Edward is essentially a streeeeched
Laweya class. In fact it will be very easy for you to also make a Laweya if you like. I'll post or link to some pics.

with the pylons attaching to the top, much like a Klingon D-10, although the mounts are not canted.
Actually i didn't. I found the design here: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/vance.php . Thanks for pointing that out, and yes i would like to see the Laweya's schematics.

What version of 3dmax are you using?
I use Max 5, Max 8, and Max 9. I'm using 3ds Max 8 for this model.

The center section looks VERY dull. Perhaps add ribbing to the hull like on the J-Class or something just to give it something to do. Would give it more of that cargo/troop ship look, too.
The details on the top, or the fact that the cargo containers make up the ship?

The mid hull should be cargo containers :P. Or at least have prominent modules.

Hey Grunt

Actually I slightly misspoke

>Overfield<

is the one that's just shorter and with amidships downward mounted nacelles as you see here

http://home.comcast.net/~ststcsolda/federation/overfield/overfield.html

>Laweya<

is shorter with a wider truncated "wedge" saucer (like maybe 1/3 of a pie) which extends beyond the edges of the secondary cargo hull unlike Overfield and Edward, and amidships UPward mounted nacelles as you see here

http://home.comcast.net/~ststcsolda/federation/laweya/laweya.html

one idea I have to get an idea of the various lengths quickly and easily is to count the number of top mounted hatch pairs, although the >Edward< pic you have posted doesn't have any....the other thing you can do is measure by saucer or in this case half saucer diameters.  A TMP Connie saucer is 131 meters in diameter, so a "half saucer" is 65.5 meters.

Another observation I made is that while on Edward the secondary hull is substantially wider than the primary, on Overfield the secondary is only slightly wider, while on Laweya as mentioned the primary is actually wider than the secondary.

Qapla!

Need some help here...

For the Edward Ive made its saucer be partially integrated into the hull, much like the Miranda. The hard part is not have a visible seem on the bottom.  :?

I know, i went cut crazy.

OK, that wireframe is one royal piece of mess. You don't need 3/4 of the circular segments on the saucer, and the "pod" area simply needs a redo.

I did. And besides, he only needs to ask about specifics.
