FFD has its uses, but the cut tool is buggy. I wouldn't rely so heavily on shapemerge, myself. I would just add loops where I need to change geomtery and then remove what I don't need.

Yup, just don't like or use them. As I put at the beginning of the video, this may not be the most efficient or the fastest method, it is simply the way I prefer.
