gabriel WIP
« on: August 06, 2009, 11:51:14 AM »
I've been packaging up the Gabriel (thank you JL studios) to test ingame and see if i got my hardpointing right.  however, I'd like to write up a TGL for the Gabe, and it's coming across as SO complicated, I don't think I'll be able to.  haveing a version of office (preinstalled) that's in "licence demo" mode doesn't help.

PS, i think I owe a couple Cookies to the two founders *fires a double spread*

Use BCUT to write a description for it, found here:

http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Bridge_Commander_Universal_Tool;99364

You don't to write a TGL then for it. ;)

Try using an actual picture of a cookie. Just google the word "cookie". You're bound to find a good HQ picture of a chocolate chip cookie. It's funny though. :) Will there be other delicious sweets?

Wile-e: hmm...how bout a wrapped candy that does several thousnd points a hit? >:) (we all know how they rot your teeth :P )  Oh, and it was faster for me to make it than search for it.  and I was originally thinking "peanut butter" cookies.

Billz: look under the "screenshots" thread.  there's a pic of the final form of the Gabriel as I intend to release it (now that I have the nod)

my mate, also a BCer, made an interesting goof when talking about the "star wrek" finn parody.  instead of calling the torpedo a "light ball" , it was called a "light BEER" instead.  I DLed the Kickstart just to see if there was a flying bottle-shaped torpedo in it! i got a good Soverign out of it, anyway.  gave me all 7 enterprises!

have it heal instead of damage!!

Eclipse: cheers.  i've been outa work since tax time.  besides, it took me all of 15-20 minutes to write up that torpedo AND make the image.

nebs:i don't know if putting a Negative in front of the damage would heal instead, though

Wiley: i just tried a real pic.  I get a blank square no matter what I do, so it's back to the old cookie.

BC only accepts resolutions with powers of 2. So like 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048 etc. Blank textures usually mean that the resolution is not a power of 2.

Could you clarify that...

You are usually encouraged to use the "new" format which puts the ships description in the ships plugin. Use Advanced BCSMC mode and you're set to go.

there's a seperate TGL writer with BCUT.  however starting a "new" desc gives you a blank slot that you can't physically type in.  I'll try the other half when I've got as many peices together as I think are enough.  unfortunately, I had to go back and bum yet another ship script to base MINE on (fiddling with the JLS one isn't working), so i gotta get permission for THAT one, if possible.

You are supposed to click on the Add Entry button to input a new entry in the tgl. This is a full blown TGL editor not a simplified version.

yesyesYES!

Gabe installed and ran without any problems!  even my trademark Phasers came up right.  I've been spending time moving various Targeting points to logical points on the model, and moving the Right, Left, and Aft Phasers and the Torp launchers to the points i intended them.  i left the foreward Phasers where they were.

now I gotta see if I can set it up for it's own menu entry.  there's still some tweaking to do (including upping the sheild rating in the front to protect the new sensor location), and adjusting the Sheild color so it doesn't clash with anybody else's.
