Why? Star Trek Excalibur is already on it's way, they're doing the job for us..  :evil :funny

Yeah, but we don't have it. And might not for some time yet.
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

"Beyond the rim of the star-light
My love
Is wand'ring in star-flight
I know
He'll find in star-clustered reaches
Love,
Strange love a star woman teaches.
I know
His journey ends never
His star trek
Will go on forever.
But tell him
While he wanders his starry sea
Remember, remember me."

Yeah, I think the talk has boiled down, but if anyone wants to chime in leave it unlocked.

One final say is that STO will be enough for me until ST:E comes out.

BC Net Immerse Engine is old but it still has a few tricks up its sleeve.

I'm a programmer and it is known that programmers do not have that graphics touch (at least in most cases). But me playing around with different variations.

Most BC screenshots make everything in Legacy and STO looks like that, but it's multicoloured crap, and the kids have ADHD.

As for the screen overbright, I was thinking we could place a rectangle in front of the camera at all times, one end 100% transparent and the other 20% opaque white. Most of the time the clear end is over the camera, but when it points at a sun, the whiter end slides in. The off-camera end rotates about the camera's z-axis and always points to the star nearest the camera's 0,0 on x and y, if you follow. As a star comes closer to the 0,0 point on xy, the rectangle slides along accordingly.

It occurs to me that placing a transparent polygon over the camera might frak up glows and lead to certain Z-order and geometry culling issues. Just a thought, anyway.

I may not be explaining it very clearly, it is very late, and I should be in bed.
