The SR-1 Normandy
« on: March 18, 2010, 05:49:41 AM »
My first attempt was... Quite terrible, presentable, but not up to my (current) standards. I apologize for this, but Yopyop and Tiq did help make it a lovely piece of work.

So! My conclusion a long while back was "What if I made her again, fixing all the inconsistencies and errors, and using what I've learned?" I've been meaning to do this for a while, as it does seem quite a rare model in general (With the exception of the directly-ripped model used in an X3 mod), and is still the only piece of work I've done that's been completed with help. Made sense to go all out this time, right?

So, saving the rambling, here she is as she currently stands.

Could you include the sound files this time please?

I spent ages trying to get the pulse weapons sounds to work and they stil don't.

EDIT: It's too bad that no-one is doing a full Mass Effect mod. Would love to see the Citadel, Omega, Mass Relays or even some Collector' ships in BC. :D
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

Not exactly. But the 2 ships are quite similar in many ways.

TOS connie vs TMP connie really. A bit bigger, a bit more aesthetically pleasing, and a bit stronger, that's about it really. Oh, and a spunky new paint job.

nah I mean SR-1 had that cool vertical fin with antenna of some kind right ? then SR-2 came with those two ridicculous small fins that serve no purpose at all... well maybe it serves one purpose afterall... it ruins the design  also wings with engines are now a bit further to the centre of the ship ;) don't call me ME nerd, it's just my observation :P

Heretic! :P

Those fins at the front end don't seem right. I think they need to be a bit smaller and closer to the hull than they currently are.  The pod at the back doesn't look right to me either although it has been a while since I played ME1.. I thought it was an actual pod rather than an antenna on a shelf on the SR1? The engines seem too close to the main hull as well.

But I'm glad someone is doing these bambinos! lovely smooth lines! Any chance that you could do the kowloon class freighter? You know the one, it's the one that everybody seems to get killed by pirates whilst flying though known space on!

cookie for the first person to spot the ME2 reference in this post and send me a PM!

EDIT
####

Forget what I said about the engines. My memory had failed me. Too much ME2!
But the curve on the outside of the engine pods doesn't look right.
I miss :bigdance:

I did one a while ago, just not as detailed and accurate as this one shall be. I'll throw another render up when I've done a little more, but I can assure you so far it's as accurate as can be, I'd just messed up the camera settings on my scene editor. ;D

I haven' ever actually played Mass Effect, too many things about the game irritate me, except for the beautiful Normandy designs (So I don't actually know what you're talking about.  :funny). I can assure you though that the engine pylons will be made to look less subtle.

As for the fins... I like 'em.

I've never played Mass Effect either, but the Normandy is a beautiful ship.

ME 2 is much much better gameplay wise. Flows much better and has fewer annoying little foibles.  And a decent cover system!
