Another thing that makes me think that BOP and Ent D are CGI...take a look at the RCS Thrusters in the pic...

It just screams out Generations Enterprise with TNG escape pods at me for some odd reason

Apparently, some of the stock footage used for VFX in episodes was misplaced, which is why they use Tobias's galaxy model in some shots. If time and money wasn't an issue, it would have been excellent to see all enterprise appearances use the CGI model. Battles would have looked excellent had they redone them.

Nah, I think the physical model holds up very well in HD. I prefer physical models over CG.

But if they did it like that BOP shot, then I wouldn't mind, because I didn't notice it was CG until it was pointed out.

You can really tell they tried to disguise the shot and blend it with the rest, it will probably look better in motion.

CGI has come a long way since the days of DS9, Voyager, and even Enterprise. If done properly, a CGI model is indistinguishable from a physical.

In the beginning voyager pure physical too. Then they used a bit of cgi + physical, and you could clearly see the cgi (very cheesy). Until later in the seasons they mostly used cgi and combined with the traditional flyby physical. Season 7 voyager cgi was splendid imo.

b5 cgi was not really wauw XD But they had a limited budget.. But euh the latest movie (didn't liked it though) was top notch cgi ;)

True though I reckon it was quite revolutionary for small TV budget and large space battles, though I have a natural dislike for it I don't know why. :/

Perhaps you should check it out again ? The stories where actually good (of the serie, the movies after it, were crap imo)

Fair enough, I rather liked Star Wrecks mick take out of it though, for a Finnish film of a low budget it was well done.

Those were perfect, very good!

But then you had a movie of the rangers. please, utter crap! And another one, that was divided into two episodes.. Something with religion and a boy of the centauri that is gonna be the son of sheridan. It was terrible...
Wasn't fond of crusade either..

Crusade never had a chance. TNT screwed with its airing... non of the eps were released in proper order... then it got canned half way through its first season because TNT no longer wanted a scifi audience. (They even kept the rights to it so it could never be bought by another channel.)

As for B5 the lost tails (first was crap second was quite good imo)

Anyway back to TNG remastered. I preordered the sample disk. I can't wait to see it for myself.

Seriously? Why not wait for the entire box or so? I even think bluray.com suggested it and they are extremely correct with their suggestions and reviews imo...

I knew i sold my star trek dvd's to a friend of mine and i read the bluray review of star trek generations/insurrection. I wasn't really impressed with trekcore hd screencaps and after reading the bluray review on the site, i bought it (but keeping the negative points in my head). And they were correct on every stuff they wrote (excellent image quality, so good, that in a few scenes you could see geordi's eyes through his visor) or the crap upscaling of insurrection dvd to bluray quality.

After reading this review, i'm gonna pass and wait like they are saying.

Because I want to get it so I can see it with my own two eyes (they gave us this chance so why not?).... Waiting for a box set to buy that is undoubtedly going to be over $100 to see if I really like it is silly.

Yeah of course, but i'm not gonna buy it instantly, only after lets say 6 months or so.. Price will be cheaper (who knows i can buy it from some friends for a cheap price). Btw, i will need to buy it, because my dvd boxes (the old tng ones, the hard cases) are almost all destroyed. The dvd's got cracked in the casings (they are known for it
