I honestly think the longer Pylons are better.   When I think "Raptor" I think it should have a bit more of a menacing feel to it, so a Wider Wing Span would get that point accross.   Just my opinion though, the ship looks great either way.

EDIT.

Damn.... the more I look at it....... I like the Shorter version too...... it is a bit more streamlined...... lol

I dunno, your call now!  Good Luck!

Going back and forth between longer or shorter..........I'll pick slightly longer pylons, because it balances the overall shape of the ship.  If they were shorter, the saucer would look a little big.  Also everyone should do a "magic-eye" on that top comparison picture.  It looks very cool! :D

I'm going to have to say the shorter pylons, no contest.  It makes the ship look more compact and solid, while the long ones make the ship look more flimsy.

I decided to pick this up.  Didn't like how the TNG style Aztec was working out.  I'm gonna redo it with something more modern looking, as you can see I've started.  I've begun a first round detailing of the saucer paneling.  I will do two or three though.

Nice color scheme you've got there.  The blue and green hues really make the panneling stand out.  Looks very "new" compared to the TNGish textures you had on there before.  I'm glad to see this one getting some attention again, it's probably my second favorite design you've come up with so far.

TO be honest, I think this ship, at least design wise, is my favorite that I've ever done.  At least from certain angles.

Thank you for the compliments guys.  Here's an update.

First round of skinning on the saucer is pretty well done.  Added some bridge details and reduced the size of the escape pods and windows to give the ship a slightly larger scale.
