That first guy is supposed to be kirk? Idk about that, personally. I'll reserve my judgements for if/when more info is released, though.

A young and cocky Kirk, pre-TOS... I don't know, Chris Pine in that pic looks cocky enough for me :P

You guys are too obsessed about appearance. What's more important is how well the actors are able to play the parts.
If they do it close to the original actors I have no objections what they look like.
But if they look like clones but do a terrible acting job, it will be a terrible movie.

You'll have to wait and see. Until then, there's no point in complaining.

  • The artist formerly known as Prime
it should be Zoe Saldana
remember, klingons also looked like human people until they experimented with genom projects if I'm not completely wrong..

Actually, it's the other way around, Enterprise explained the whole thing (The genome project was what made them look human)

As far as I'm concerned, the only reason the movie is worth watching is for the ship. Prequels are not the right direction. :/ And it's not canon, so that's more... But, if I disregard that it's apparently trek, I'll still watch it, and hopefully enjoy it.

...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.

I take it you know nothing of the plot? Five timelines are involved here(it was months ago when I saw the article but im certain this is pretty accurate). 24th century Romulans(when the movie starts/post-nem most likely), George Kirk and the USS Kelvin(?2230s-40s?), young James Kirk(6 years old?), cadet Kirk and Kirk and the Enterprise.
All hail the messiah!

How do you figure this is any less canon than any of the other movies?

Meh, they put her up because they want a little sexy sizzle in the promotion. Worked, too. Also, these are three of the very bes resemblances with the old cast. Carl Urban doesn't look a whole lot like De Kelly. I bet he'll be the one that gets the acting closest, though.

Maybe they're focusing on her as a lead because she's basically the only female character out of the bunch. It might be in an effort to attract more female viewers as well. I don't think she's there just because she's "hot".  :D

Apparently Scotty is played by Simon Pegg. Correct me if I'm wrong.  :D
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

Indeed he is. He should bring a certain... quality... to the role.

Actually, I find Carl Urban to look quite a bit like Kelly/McCoy, if I were to imagine Bones 20 years younger than he appreared to be in TOS.
