They trying to kill Trek or appeal to the much younger generation? I'll definitely see it in theaters for kicks, but I mean... really... Idk about this one. :(

im not contributing any of my money for this one...  ill wait until it is on cable, and only if there is absolutely nothing else on to watch at the time lol
what a disappointment...
i know, there are many people completely enthusiastic about this film - all the more power to them; i really really wish i could share in that enthusiasm, i really do...  i just feel really let down by it all...

What I want to know is why Spock is choking the hell out of Kirk?

That ain't Spock ... that's Sylar dressed as Spock.

It's too futuristic - too much damned chrome, for one thing.

That bridge looks so stupid.

Every image I see makes it look more and more like a fan-film to me. (Its something New Voyages could've done but wont because they actually care about how classic Trek is remembered)
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

I'll admit, it's a bit of a let down. I was hoping more a more militaristic/NX style bridge.

The bridge looks waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too busy. To busy and too bright. And by busy, I don't mean the amount of people on it, a mean cluttered, distracting. Gods help any epileptics in the crew! At least TNG's display overload had a grasp of ergonomics to it! HCI specialists to the bridge on the double!

I'm not gonna boycott the first Star Trek movie in 6 years based on a few photos, but I do feel a little let down. I like the Kelvin, but the design looks like change for change's sake, not change to make it more appealing.

Klingon Academy now works on XP/Vista/Win 7 thanks to one dude's patches, click here for details. I highly recommend it!

Lets just hope that the bridge shot was taken from a particularly unflattering and bad angle...

I'm annoyed about the bridge too. They stayed true to the uniforms so could have made a better go at the bridge. In A Mirror Darkly proved the original bridge could look great in the 21st century!

Yowch! All those lights! nd the shininess! The film keeps on getting more and more like BSG to me.

That is not even close to BSG. BSG's cic looks so much better and more militaristic (imo the direction Trek XI ought to have gone.)

Sorry, I shold have said the picture of the Kelvin had a BSG feel to it. Like someone with a video camera and zooming in and out all the time.

Oh come on guys you can not determain if a film is going to be total cheese just by looking at a few pics. Dont forget whos behind all of this, JJ Abrams and nt to forget the writers, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman who did a great job writing Transformers and MI3. There is a lot to be excited about here and i think it is going to get Star Trek on its feet again, and to be honest iam glad to see the back of Berman and Bragga. One things for sure this is going to be miles better that enterprise, and for everyone who is worried its going to end up like Thunderbirds or Galaxy Quest, its not because the guys writing this is are massive star trek fans just like the rest of us, so give them a break and give it a chance, thats all iam asking!

I like the BSG feel of the exterrior shots... that really catches my eye. The bridge, though, just does NOT look Trek. Hell, even Galaxy Quest has a more militaristic feel to it, imo. I just don't know about this... I'm particularly not fond of the look of the antagonist. He just... looks really cartoony, you know? Like somebody you'd see off of Power Rangers.

Sure, the writers are well known, I won't argue that at all. But is it not important that the visuals [sets and actors, etc...] reflect Trek in the best manner possible? That's my only concern... that they went overboard. A more Enterprise/Galactica-style feel to the interriors would have been great, methinks. But who knows, maybe the story will be good enough to help me forget about the rest.

So far some major Trek fans have SEEN the movie (like Simon Pegg, duh, and Kevin Smith who is one of the biggest canon nazis on earth if you have talked with him online) and really enjoyed it.

Kevin Smith notes that he thought JJ did a great job bringing this into canon story without damaging anything aside from visuals.

He also says that the crew is not together at the beginning of the movie all the way through. They gradually join on as the movie goes along. Like how Scotty doesn't actually appear until the latter half of the movie along with Uhura and Checkov.

Oi! Bari, don't give every thing away. And I never said that the film was going to be total cheese. I'm looking forward to it but the bridge looks like a 29th Century transport with wires hanging all over the place just to keep the lights on.
