Well, the bumpmaps look overly done on the Rhod"y" (see Jimmy, I learn these things :D) version 1 yet not so much on v2...kind of sets the opinion off balance...

I thought it looked better WITH the greyscale to be honest. Now it just looks like its made of plastic. Its not your fault. Its the way she was designed.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

The first one looks metallic in color, but not in texture.  If you changed the normal map so it looks more like panels it would be fine.
The second, like Billz said, looks like plastic.

first one looks like its wooden painted grey so the one without greyscale looks much better

small hint to make hull more realistic, add some faint monocoloured noise either to _glow map or to _spec map, it's worth giving a try

Overall, it's better without the grayscale normal map.  But I think you should put it back around the escape pods.  They look too flat, otherwise.

Damn, now I'm finding the grey-scaled version better in-game than the other. Bah, forget about my opinions, they suck

Looks better without greyscales definitely. The greyscales just made the ship appear a little "bland" in my eyes I guess is the correct way of putting. Rhode Island looks great now, keep up the good work brotha!

No wonder why its so accurate; its done by the lord Doug Drexler himself! *clap clap* Although moving back ontopic before things get out of hand...

I'm still undecided about the Rhodie. With grey's it looks far too bumpy which like i said before seems to set my opinion off balance.

I think the second version looks better, the first one looks like its wrinkling, which takes away from the ship's colors. Although, the escape pod hatches on the first version look better.
